The zipper pull on my riding suit broke today
« on: May 22, 2015, 01:48:58 AM »
Well who cares about the zipper on my Roadcrafter?  I only mention it because it happened while getting ready for my last ride out to work as I retired tonight after 31 years on the job.  I thought it was amusing that the zipper broke after 8 years of almost daily use on the very last time I needed it.  A quick fix was installed as there was no and I mean no way I wasn't going to ride my bike into work on my last day.  I happen to have worked at the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant and it sits on the coast of California at the end of a 7 mile private drive that has no traffic on it when I'm riding in at around 3:30 pm each day.  My stress levels dropped once I got back into riding and started to ride the bike into work along the coast, if I miss anything other than the people I've worked with for so many years it will be that drive.  The boss was kind to me today and let me go at 8 pm instead of midnight so I got to ride out the last time as the sun was setting into the Pacific Ocean and it was a sublime ride in many ways.  Weird feeling leaving all my skills and knowledge behind for sure but am looking forward to riding my V7 to where ever I want to go when ever I want to go.

31 Years.  Here's to you!  Glad the zipper broke on the riding suit and not on some other sort of suit you might have had to wear at your job. I hope you can give this motley crew some nuclear nuggets now and again.  Cheers!

Congrats on your new life!

I lost a pull while on the road. Bummed a paper clip from the convenience  store clerk and solved for that for a while.

A small split-keyring works well as a zipper pull until you can get a proper replacement.
