I knew we exported racing camels, but do we export live meat or frozen or butchered carcasses?  If not, then why not?  Given the paucity of the current live meat export trade in mutton esp., but also cattle, it seems a pity to waste an export income strategy that will help us dispose of at least some of this pretty damaging feral pest.  Pity our usual export markets are forbidden feral pigs too.  There's a 24 million plus razorbacks out there rooting & wallowing their way to the ecological destruction of much of our top-end wetlands.  Not to mention the bloody buffalo, brumbies, donkeys, dogs, cats, goats, foxes, rabbits, cane toads, carp...........&c.

There is an abattoir in Peterborough South Australia that specializes in Feral Camels and Donkeys from the APY lands (NT & SA Border).
The meat is used to fill a supply contract for the Moroccan Army.
A livestock truck full of camels is a very sad sight.

Good looking or not, most of our mid-eastern clients don't seem to find them particularly attractive.  But it may be just a differential size thing:  think the classic randy Chihuahua vs Great Dane bitch dilemma.  According to US surveillance drone video evidence, some (maybe most) find donkeys, sheep & goats much more attractive.

As previously stated, the evidence is out there, but to publish links may violate site rules.  I'll leave it up to the dear reader to investigate further in the obvious places should you be so inclined....

The local laws are quite clear & succinct:  'men only' may 'enjoy themselves' as much as they wish with various livestock.  Sheep, cows, camels & so on, but must slaughter said livestock immediately upon achieving their 'denouement' (poor animal), the meat of which may not be sold within his own village, but is acceptably disposed of in neighbouring village/s (poor neighbours).  In Sudan one unfortunate fellow was obliged to marry his goat 'very good friend' after being sprung 'in flagrante delicto'.

Speaking of neighbours, don't our trans-Tasman cousins have a bit of a reputation....

 He looks sort of like that dog in a famous New Zealand cartoon strip.  I've forgotten the name but it was a good chuckle every time I read one.  Haven't seen one in 30 years though, and I've forgotton the name of it.

His name was "dog" He had been given a name but if anyone knew it they were quickly silenced by said dog.  The main character was Wal, his girlfriend was Cheeky Hobson  and cat was called Major.  Cartoon was Footrot Flats.  A really great series and had the working relationship of farmer and dog down to a tee.

This is becoming something of an ongoing theme in my recent postings!  It's embarrassing.  I'm not really all that obsessed with this sort of schoolboy antics usually.  Sexually frustrated, maybe, (recent divorce) but obsessed;  definitely not!  Too old for all that infantile palaver.  'Struth!

I think Jess actually belonged to Cooch.  Cooch had the trees growing through his house.  Tended to be quite the philosopher at times.

Forgot about Rangi; either him or the girl were real city slickers with a boom box glued to their ear.

Memory coming back.  Dog was from a dog foster home with Aunt Dolly.  She gave him the name that was never allowed to be said.
