The bulb will tell you if the alternator is working.
The resistor will not.

So keep the bulb (LED) and use the bootstrap harness!

General Discussion / Re: Denso Alternator Bracket

Danno, it seems like this has been asked every month for the last 3 months LOL. Each time the answer seems to be call Harper's about the bracket. This Old Tractor should list the alternator numbers.

Good luck,

Putting this here mostly as a warning to future V50 Spiegler purchasers. Check the actual sizes included in the kit before buying.

The hard line from the rear MC to front sheared off when I tried to remove it from the MC, so I bought a Spiegler braided kit. The kit has a few issues:

1) the rear line in the package is 11.5" and needs to be 13.5" like it is in their computer
2) it doesn't include a line to replace the stock hard line  (brainless assumption on my part)
3) the front right line is one piece making the pressure switch unusable.

I'm taking this opportunity to think about de-linking the system. A main concern is whether to keep the front splitter that operates the pressure brake switch, or eliminate it and do something else. I didn't have great luck with the pressure switches on my Alazzurra. What have people used to replace the splitter & switch? I'm not fond of square MCs on this era bike but if I haaaad to.....

thanks,
jim

Ah!, I was wrong, here is the "better" from faffi's initial post.

"This is where more cylinders really start to shine IMO. Even my old Suzuki GS650G and Yamaha XJ750 Seca would take full throttle in 5th gear from their 1100 rpm idle. Without protest, without vibrations or pinging. Not with a lot of acceleration, but without strain. That is what I miss with singles and twins. I do not like the busyness and sometimes buzziness that comes with multis, but I really like their flexibility."
You may be in error when you say “without suffering”. As the cylinders become smaller, so does the magnitude of the protest from each one. If your bike was a 650 cc made up of 650 model aircraft engines of 1 cc linked together, you would not know if you were killing them or not. The torque output would feel more fluid, because the “bangs” were closer together.

Something is “better” when it fullfills its desired function more completely than it’s competitor/s.
It is the prerogative of the observer to determine what that function is for themself, (songs are a perfect example).
So if, in your OPINION something is “better”, then it must be so.
Because an opinion, can never be wrong. Even if reality deems otherwise, your belief that you are correct remains intact.
So your OPINION is correct.
Or put another way…
It is CORRECT that it is your opinion.

I think that would be a Zen thing.

The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao.
The name that can be named is not the eternal name.
The nameless is the beginning of heaven and earth.
The named is the mother of ten thousand things.
Ever desireless, one can see the mystery.
Ever desiring, one can see the manifestations.
These two spring from the same source but differ in name;
this appears as darkness.
Darkness within darkness.
The gate to all mystery.

― Laozi, Tao Te Ching

So, the better that is defined better is not the true better but is the origin of the full garage.

I used that dash plate with Motogadget gauges and cups on my G5 build.  It fits and works well, but I ended up going back to the stock T3 gauges and mounts.  I thought they looked better. The idiot light lenses in the stock top plate are very fiddly.

Are these the lenses that you used? They look pretty skookum https://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=276&products_id=2782
