Yes, I have the denim version.  They are nice looking and well made.  I use them for local day-rides in the area.  I originally thought of carrying them to rallies and other trips and using them for short trips, walking around, etc, but that has not happened.  They are heavier than a pair of normal denim pants so, therefore, warmer.

Hope this helps.

I too have the jeans, not the khakis.  With the knee armor in ,they're the perfect compromise between comfort, convenience and protection.

I bought this for $75:

Pants weigh 2.5 lb and are warm in hot weather. Knee pockets provided for protective pads. No cordura but the fabric is heavy and of course double-thick over the knees/upper shins. I really like all the big pockets.

Thanks for the replies peoples.  I'm thinking the Aerostich jeans, will either order a pair of those or just ride up there, Duluth is a pretty good ride from Kansas City though to get pants.    Think I'll pass on the beige colored ones though, was thinking they would be good to ride to work in but didn't think about them showing bug splatters  etc.

Might get a pair of those fire hose pants also though that does look like a good idea.

I've got two pair of the Duluth Trading black fire-hose jeans.   No armor, but good heavy material.   Until I can find some protective pants that don't make me feel like I'm walking around with a full diaper, they, or my plain leather jeans, are what I use.

If you want to be like Lannis, the Duluth Trading store is in Mt. Horeb, a short ride from Lake Joy.

If you want to be like Lannis ...

Certainly a worthy goal aspired to by many, but notice that I didn't suggest all that ...

Sliders! and the kaki is much cooler than the denim in the summer. I prefer the cargo so I can put my wallet in the left knee pocket. light, cheap, on sale regularly and I've tested them. sure they aren't a suit but in the 80-100 degree summer they are great.  http://www.compacc.com/sliders-pants

does the phrase "i've tested them" mean you have experienced an unintended dismount while wearing them? i assume since you're recommending them they performed well?

I've tested the Sliders, and they do indeed offer greater protection than regular jeans from sliding on pavement (only a dime-sized hole on a slide that I assume would have shredded regular jeans), but the lack of knee armor disqualifies them for me.  Also, the fit and finish of the Aerostich is superior (no stray kevlar threads that will poke your legs like the Sliders).

If you don't care about armor, or have armor separate from your riding pants, I do agree the Slider jeans and khakis are a great deal.

I believe they now come standard with a knee pocket for extra pads sold separately.
Yep, and they tested way better than they look like they would.
