He actually looks pretty happy about it  ;D
One of my roommates when I was younger had a grown Great Pyraneese and whenever there was measurable snow on the ground or temps dipped well below freezing she would jump around outside like a little pup.  She actually preferred it much colder.

Our dogs are pretty happy down to around -25. After that their feet get too cold to be out for long (they hate booties).
This image was taken during a cabin fever break; everyone goes outside to wreck havoc and mayhem for 15 minutes then run back to the door.

Yeah, I know you guys are getting tired of seeing this one.  Will get a new pic of Maggie the Old English Sheepdog when I finish the mods to the T5.

Yes, when she was in full coat she loved being outside in the wet and cold.  She'd go out when it was in the single digits (F) and take a nap on the ice.  Now that she is cut shorter and is older (7 now) she likes her warm bed better :)

How can you say he's not smart? Which one of you is living in early retirement with servants, cooks, masseuse, and personal trainers.
Seems one of us has the other by the short hair.
If you look carefully at his left jowl.. it pretty much resembles a smirk.

It's funny you say that about the smirk. When we picked him up when he was 8 weeks old my wife immediately fell in love with him andwe had to have him. We brought him home and we was staring blankly at me and I asked my wife if he was smirking at me. One of the vet visits we asked and they suspect he had an in utero stroke or something cause on that side he smirks and he doesn't breathe well out of that nostril and that eye seems either bad or maybe even blind.

He is the happiest dog I have ever seed though. He loves everyone and loves attention. When we got him the lady said "of all the puppies this one loves being held the most" ... nothing has changed. If my wife is laying on the couch she will climb up and lay down on Her for a snuggle.  He does that to me too.

So he always looks at us with the "no one home" look and takes up way too much space on the couch, but he's our baby.

Many of the mastiff type breeds can have a lazy eye. Sometimes they tighten up as the pup matures into its skin... sometimes not.
Have you noticed that eye is dull in any photographs taken with a flash? Again, mastiff type dogs can be prone to PRA (progress retinal atrophy) or other eyes diseases.
You can have your buddy's eyes tested by vets with specific training. We have our dogs 'cerf'd' at around a year and again two years later as a way to try keep genetic diseases out of the pedigree.
Regardless; nothing better than a big dog who loves to cuddle. Rub his ear flap for me please.  :D

We used to have a Shi Tzu.  He was declared a dumb dog by all who met him.  I just explained that he was so smart that he knew he didn't have to do any of those stupid tricks if he didn't want to.  He was happy just laying where ever he wanted.  If you didn'tlike it then tough.  And,yes, he seemed to have a smirk most of the time.  :)

Now you have me concerned. His "bad" side eye has always has issues with watering and sometimes, not regularly, having discharge. Vet has given us pink eye medicine and in the transition seasons we give him allergy medicine as advised because of allergies. I wonder if I need to check into one of these vet eye specialists. Our highly scientific test for his eye is to bring the hand from outside his vision to his face and see if he reacts... but as stated he's a little weird. Sometimes he reacts, sometimes not, and usually the same with the good eye.  He gets plenty of ear flap rubs, he's kinda spoiled

Some watering and discharge is normal in a droopy eye because of dust and such getting into the fold. If you are after the peace of mind by having the eye looked at you might ask your regular vet if you should see an ophthalmologist.
Bear in mind that I'm just a guy in the house who picks up the poop and cuddles the pests. My official title is POP... prince of pails.

don't know why the photo won't load, I've tried every method including what's described in the FAQ's.

Anyhow Hemi is 10 years old today.  I always said I'd never own another dog but he became mine in 2011 after my brother decided he'd had enough of this life.  Hemi came to me with perfect deportment.  Obeys like a child right before Christmas, doesn't lick, gets along with other animals (caught him sniffing noses with a possum one night), doesn't jump on you (well except for that time I told the old gentlemen he wouldn't), poops in the weeds not in the yard, won't try to sneak people food, and puts up with grandkids nonsense.  His only "flaw" is shedding year round.  I can't understand why he isn't bald by now.   ;D

Well, I just used your IMG link from photobucket and it certainly works fine.  Boat, dog, water, fishing pole.  Looks like a great dog and the makings of a great morning/afternoon.

My three ladies here...

From left to right: Coffee, Stella and Luna

Our youngest addition to the family, we found Coffee in July 2013 outside of Naples, Italy. She was a little more than a month old and covered in ticks and fleas; abandoned and left to die near an uninhabited beach property.  We stumbled across her during our family walk and cleaned her up. Not sure what kind of dog she is, but weighing in at a heftly 61 lbs, she's a great addition to the family.

Stella...we got her in the UK in '05. A military couple was leaving to go back stateside and didn't want to take here along. We immediately took her in...she had just turned 1.  She's 11 years old this year and the sweetest, nicest dog on the planet, despite her crazy look.

Luna...another Naples special...one of 11 dogs that needed a new home, we got her when she was about 3 months in Dec 2008.  Almost died of a serious case of parvo when she was not even a year old, but we worked hard to bring Luna back to health and she has been doin' great ever since. The best guard dog of the three and probably the most vicious when it comes to strangers/trespassers....don't let those puppy dog eyes fool ya...

good eye on the rod ;-T  wish I could say I had a hand in the training.  my brother got Hemi from some high class breeder in the Carolinas and worked
the dog a lot.  Hemi has gone from a 70% hunting/30% house pet dog to a 100% house pet.  my hunting ended in 1975 after a hilariously, disastrous day with my dad's aptly named lab, Torpedo.

A little over 5 years ago, this little bugger wondered into the library I was then managing.  Someone came and told me, "There's a dog in the library."  She was incredibly dirty, tagless and collarless, circling the landing inside the entrance all the while growling in the cutest, leave me alone kind of way.  I said okay fine and just sat down on the interior steps beside the landing to wait and see what would happen.  She continued circling and growling a bit at me before contentedly hopping up to sit on the steps beside me.  I knew immediately she would be coming home with me.  Took her back, gave her two baths - both where fleas just floated off her - and where she actually changed from a brown to a blonde dog.  I posted flyers but nobody claimed her and I secretly harbored the idea that I would not hand her over even if they tried.  At the vet they said she was between 5-8 mos. old then.  She quickly demonstrated a knack for running in front of you, leaping and sliding on her back with her belly up at you.  Flopsy was so named and history followed.  My wife has since turned her into some kind of canine queen and they have bonded beyond measure.  I try and remind her often that it is me, in fact, not my wife who rescued her from the hard streets of west Louisville; yet, Flops won't have much of it and wifey remains first in her heart.  I don't mind.  Because it's unknown exactly, wife jokes that her birthday is each year on January 1st, hence the five year hat.  Flops only suffers such humiliation and indignities because she's well aware it doesn't get any better than wife's arms.  Anyone else got some good dog pics for 2015 so far?

My brother had a dog like this that got sick and died quickly.  He loved the dog and took Toby everywhere he went.  The day Toby died, one of our friends called him not knowing that his dog had died earlier in the day.  He told him there was a dog out side his home that looked as if some one had dumped it off.  The poor dog was in terrible shape, over grown hair, nails and fleas.  He went and rescued the dog.  Other than being a female, you would not able to tell the two apart.  My brother named her Lucky.  She is now the Queen of the home, taking King Toby's place.
