Guzzi Sighting on Old TV Show
« on: December 22, 2018, 09:42:02 AM »
Hi, Folks.

I'm sometimes surprised at how many times Guzzis show up on TV.  Happened to notice two police Eldos (or Ambos) that appear quite prominently during the intro of an old TV series called Carter Country.  Check out 0:58 here:

https://youtu.be/QZf5Odx5dgI

I'd never seen the show before... and it looks like I wasn't missing much!

We now return you to our regular programming...

Cheers,
Shaun

Don't recall that show either, but they definitely are a couple of loop fram Guzzi's.

Also, a nice looking, early 70s Karmann Ghia in that last frame.

I barely remember watching the show.  Did the show about a bunch of Southern buffoons have coincidental name and timing release with the election of the new President?  Hollywood wouldn't poke fun of the President would they?

Watched an interesting show on MPT the other night: https://www.aptonline.org/offer/VINTAGE-ROADS-GREAT-SMALL (Episode #101). They were following the "Old Military Road" in Scotland. One segment, they were climbing a steep "goat path" that was once used as test road by early British car makers. They "just happened" to bump into a guy driving a Guzzi small-block powered Pemberton, this is the guy: http://www.thepembleton.org.uk/ePAG/ePAG56/snotamog.shtml If you watch the promo, there's a quick glimpse of it.

Quite often people affiliated with the shows use their own machines for props in the making of said show. A couple of customers have pointed out that they have used their own bikes that way. One fellows Lemans was damaged by a prop guy not too long ago.

I met a guy at a car show this summer who’s business was “selling” his classics to movie producers to be used in a film.  Part of the contracted sale is that they GIVE him the car back - sometimes damaged, sometimes not.  He intimated that it’s a good deal for him.  A John Wick fastback  Mustang was there.

This Summer I did rent two of my KTM dirt bikes to an ad company for background props for the brochure on the new Jeep pickup. Don't know yet if they are actually in it, but I got paid.

I know it's an old post, but....

My old neighbor (now about 5 miles away) supplied all the retired NASCAR cars for Days of Thunder, plus a request for several Rotax bikes that were never used in the movie.  The last big contract that I know he filled was 20 1967-68 fastback mustangs for the Fast and Furious franchise, which they've been servicing for years.  Good money, but it really dried up the local well.  But they're still good friends.

When they bought out a building a few years ago to get an old car, there were several bikes in the building.  So, because of the past dealings and Rotax stuff, they called us. And I got a 1967 V700 chunk for my Corsa Record out of the deal.   Very cool.
