V7 II Load Capacity
« on: May 22, 2019, 09:59:08 AM »
In the manual, the following is listed for max load capacity:

Quote
Maximum carrying load: 401 kg (884.05 lb) (rider + passenger + luggage)

Is this including the bike's weight, or can two 420 lb people (840 lb total) ride with 44 lb of luggage?

My partner and I are planning a 350 mile weekend trip. We're both under 180 lb each, and I don't expect the luggage (roller skate gear and clothes) to be more than 60 lb. Total, she + me + luggage is likely under 400 lb.

Looks like a typical Guzzi publication error.

Cause there's no F'n WAY I would put more than maybe MAYBE 400 lbs on a smallblock.

Here's how the OM read for the Mk I

Quote
Maximum carrying load 203 kg (447 lb) (rider + passenger
+ luggage)

My guess is some publication dweeb confused gross vehicle weight ratings and carrying capacity (you need to subract the actual weight from the gross rating to find capacity).

I'll just checked a V7III OM too for giggles.

Looks like they are still trying to confuse people:

Quote
Maximum allowable weight (Stone/Racer/Carbon) 924 lb (423 kg) (rider + passenger
+ baggage)

The III OM goes on to list Curb Weight (Stone/Racer/Carbon) as 461 lbs (209 kg), so I'd say CARRYING CAPACITY (of rider, passenger, luggage) is 463#, but again, I wouldn't carry THAT much.

I agree.  Sounds like Someone mixed up GVW and load capacity.

That being said, I've had two different V7s loaded with rider/passenger/gear to about 400 lbs.  They did OK, but the shocks don't have enough rebound damping when loaded that heavy, and the bike's 40 RWHP aren't going to get you there in a hurry...  Usually just did that around town and on short dinner rides...

Someone call Guinness.  That is probably a world record for carrying capacity for a bike of any size!

Don't forget to set the static sag for her + you + your roller derby gear.   :thumb:

The bike can handle 2 people & that weight comfortably for that kind of distance. The limiting factor is going the be the comfort of the pillion. There's not much wiggle room there. My pillion (a young fella), found it OK with an air hawk until he grew into his full height (6'3" with long legs & big feet).

Having rode from Texas to florida, 8 hours one way i think your fine.  I own a v7ii and we took it on that trip with similar weight and no problems. Averaged 45 mpg. Stretch out at the gas stations and dont be afraid to get a hotel. Have fun and be safe.
