I think it was split spectrum data transmission.  I probably don't have the correct terminology for it, but it is instrumental today in cell phone transmission.  I believe it gave us the ability to constantly change the broadcast frequencies our military data transmissions used, not at all easy for our enemies to follow.

Torpedoes guidance mechanisms were being jammed by enemy...by using "frequency-hopping", no one frequency could be utilized for the jamming...

I am not familiar with her, but weren't the first B-26 variants know as the 'widowmakers?'  If I recall, the first of these planes had extremely short wings, compared to contemporary medium bombers, and required a more aggressive landing technique.

Ken was correct. It was Jackie Cochran.
The B-26 had higher wing loading than previous bombers had. Due to this the plane had a considerably higher stall speed which required higher takeoff and landing speeds than most pilots had experienced. Overall not as forgiving as a low wing loading plane. Pilots were having difficulty adjusting and a lot of negative rumors were flying concerning how "dangerous" the plane was.
Jackie was asked to tour bases with the plane to show that gasp, even a women could handle the plane so why can't you. Overall the plane was a great success.

I recall reading that the Martin B-26, had a higher landing speed than most anything else at the time.
Most B-26 training was done in the Tampa Bay area, 2 a day in Tampa Bay.
They didn't do well in the Pacific theater, but in Europe they had the lowest casualty rate of any aircraft, with the most sorties.

It is interesting to note, that training accidents, caused more deaths than combat for the USAAC/USAAF.

A friend of mine, his dad was a bombardier in a Marauder, he called it the sharp end of the stick.

...and Zeppo Marx was an engineer, Started Marman (?) Engineering, contributed to the effort to keep us speaking English.
