Has anyone got the good info on getting some lubrication into a dry/sticking/gummed up stepper ? Just suspected at this stage, but some info born of bitter experience would be really beaut..
Thanks in advance.
Huzo.

Huzo,
There was some talk on Griso Ghetto about this. If I recall, it was as simple as carburetor spray cleaner.

Take it off and drill a small hole in the base as I recall..?

Liberal dose of a product we have here called Seafoam - basically a carb cleaner...

Thanks you guys.

I'm sure someone somewhere recommended "trumpet oil" after cleaning
I also knocked up a little circuit using off the shelf parts so that I could "exercise" it off the bike. Let me know if that would be helpful and I'll hunt down what I did

I tried to clean carbs a few times with Seafoam. I think plain water would have worked better.

It might be over my head, but I’ll take a look if you can be bothered mate.
Thank you.

You'll be fine. Just a bit of soldering to exercise your skills to make it work

From the board connector to the stepper connector, just match the wire colours up
For the USB power you'll need to check the polarity - I can't remember
To use you will need to fiddle with the speed, as if you get it too fast the stepper can't react, so go up and down until it does and stroke both ways
Good Luck, but shout me back if you need more
Cheers
Tris
PS Interesting fact I have used this on 2 steppers now. The one on the bike and a spare and if driven shut they BOTH leaked on one leg.
This goes some way to explaining why the bleed screws need adjusting at idle to balance this leak out and while a stepper isolation valve might be a good idea

Thank you for treating my enquiry seriously Tris, that’s a beaut bit of kit..

My pleasure
If you're lucky you'll get the board for nothing.
It was weeks and weeks coming and eventually I lost patience and moaned at the seller who gave me the 8 quid back
3 days later it arrived - which was nice
