 Well , there is only one Bon Jovi (thankfully  ) , that doesn't mean there isn't room for other talents to come along and reinterpret great songs . Remember , Janisherownself was reinterpreting lots of older blues classics , as have the Allman Bros , even Johnny Cash did some amazing covers of modern rock songs in his later years .

Uhhh- I'd have to agree here. Belting it out is one thing- but range, holding a note, etc is singing.

Thanks for the tip KRG, I'll check that out and give you my report. May change my whole outlook on Beyoncé. Most of what I've heard of her music is known as "catterwallin' " in my neck of the woods

 Joss Stone ? Like Joe Satriani , who couldn't bend a string if his life depended on it 
  Oh , I think some of you naysayers aren't really listening to MM, she exhibited at least a two and one half octave range , and her ability to hold and mold a note is pretty damn good .
