Ok, I Google Mapped the place. What's the story on this area? I'm fairly familiar with Rust Belt style depopulation, but this looks rather different.

Gridded "streets" that barely qualify as such...
While there's scattered evidence of former home sites (sidewalks to nowhere, curb cuts) the majority looks to have never been developed.
What little housing there is leans pre-war, but there appears to be random mid-century here and there.

It reminds me of an un-remediated Superfund site

It is close to the airport.  There used to be more houses in the area but the airport was expanded over the last 10-15 years.  They bought up and tore down numerous houses and businesses in the area to comply with noise buffer requirements.  Once the domino started the area has not recovered.  I'm sure 30 years ago it was a thriving area.

Baseball field at the local high school.

New tag. How about a stack of logs?

Since this may be hard to find, how about the finished product?

I used to play this game a lot on the XL Forum.

Chuck - Blackcat got the funeral home tag a few days ago and posted a new tag of a baseball diamond.  Moparnut got that tag and posted the above for the new tag.

Man, I could swear the tag was still good when I went out.  :)  Still, it was nice to get out for a ride.  Finally.

To be clear-- Chuck put the new tag up-- something to do with gloves.

Just bumping this up since parts of the country are moving into riding weather.  Tag is anything named after a George:

Georgetown
Washington
Westinghouse
Orwell
Gershwin
Phyllis

You get the idea.  Town, street, bowling alley.  Have at it.

I have one picked out but we will be having absolute crap weather tomorrow.  I may be able to tag it on Thursday if no one else gets a "George".

I live in a state named after a George, so this is a good tag.  I can think of 2 Georges that are close, but I've not had (or made) a chance...  work

"George" grabbed. George Alfred Townsend.

George isn't in his tomb...

More photos of Gathland, now a state park. Only a mile from my house, but I rode forty miles to get there.

More about George and Gapland/Gathland.

Awesome tag, Charlie.  I love it when the tags come with a little history.  Now I have to look for that writer and specifically this book:

I admit to being a little disappointed that no one tagged Phyllis George.  :)

This arch used to be on Wendell Wilkie high school.

He apparently wasn't a bad guy.. for a politician.. he at least believed in education. Ran against Roosevelt.

I know I did a clock tower.. how about a bell tower for the tag.
Complete with bell.

Next tag - Alfa Romeo dealer, service shop, or auto-related/themed location featuring the crest. Can be current or defunct dealer (like here) but should have the Alfa logo.

That one will be very difficult to find (without going down into the DC metro area).

Modified the tag to make it a little easier.  It should still be easier for most than a local Guzzi dealer :-) . There is one dealer showing in Germantown.

Which is in the DC Metro area. I'm not fighting kamikaze drivers for any tag.
