V85 Exhaust Change out
« on: March 13, 2024, 09:16:39 PM »
So the 900 mile service is done on my 2023 and I changed out the stock headers and crossover for the Chineseum brand. (even though the box had an Akrapovic sticker in it....strange)

Anyway, couldn’t be happier with the sound and throttle response not to mention the weight savings and the ease of accessing fluid change bolts.

It is not hot here but I can’t imagine it won’t help the heat with the cat being removed.

Totally happy with the mod and still with the bike.

RideOn!

Any fueling issues?  I assume you didn't mess with any type of refueling gizmos or tunes, just the stock set-up? Do you have a link to the headers and crossover you went with?
I have just a slip-on but wouldn't mind some more sound.  I'm a bit hesitant though with removing the cat without providing a tune to match but it seems there isn't much out there that works well with the E5.

I am going to look into doing the exhaust change sometime this year.  That CAT is way too hot!

Just asked them to make sure that it had the latest map otherwise, stock. YMMV
Left the stock muffler on as well.

Yeah I get that.
It’s bluing nicely, although some don’t like that.
I figure I can buy 3 for every 1 pricey Italian exhaust and I don’t have a good track record with keeping bikes a long time anyway.

I assume the heat shields are now gone? How about a right side pic.

Copy, thanks.  Please report back after some miles are accumulated.  I may have to give it a shot.

Nope heat shield mounts were fitted on the new exhaust so it looks stock except for the massive amount of room freed up underneath.

Inditx - thanks posting this. You convinced me to jump in. Mounted to my 2023 with no problems. Stock muffler, runs, looks and sounds better. I did substitute the aluminum spacers at the rear mount with these shock bushings. I read somewhere that doing so stopped a problem some guys had with the “Y” breaking and needing welded up. They are a perfect fit and should hold up for a long time.

I also have to thank inditx for being the guinea pig on this item.
I finally installed mine and took the V85 out for a test ride and am very pleased with the results.
Mostly because not much changed except for all the space under the gearbox.
It's not much louder that I can tell. Runs perfectly, as before.
I think I will change out the solid bushings for some rubber ones though.
Thanks inditx and cappisj1!
Cheers!

inditx-Were you able to use the original header gaskets with the new exhaust system?
