;-T Thanks Yuconica, always a pleasure to enjoy what mother nature provides us. Here in the Desert we're blessed with some pretty awsome stargazing and meteor activity too!

Snowed here.  I saw lights through the holes in the clouds around dawn when I was tending the smoke house.

Mine was serendipity; a dog woke me wanting to go pee. She went back to bed... I got a camera out.

Other notes: I was planning a trip south this summer but it looks like a week away from home is going to be a luxury.
Thinking about a ride into Palmer (for the pass) in July. Maybe a bit further if you are going to be in AK.
Or will you have begun the great circle route?   Beer'n'burgers are on me if you are about town.  ... Sullivan's is out.

I was kinda thinking about running up the Klondike over solstice for the D2D.  Depending on how the rig runs, then continuing over the top-of-the-world to Tok and Fairbanks, head back to WH and south to America, or head back home.  I have Prudoe Bay on my bucket list (been defeated twice before), so my main objective would be Fairbanks.  However, they lost about 20 miles of the haul road north of Coldfoot last week and between the road conditions and the backlog of convoy traffic it might not be a wise bike trip until much later in the season.

Stay tuned.

There are only three routes into Dawson. By Air, through Chicken, or past my driveway.
IF you plan on hitting solstice in Dawson; plan on overnighting 35km north of Whitehorse.

So you live where the sheet metal cowboys lounge and the fake Mountie car parks?

No... That's D-bay: Alaska Hwy from Haines Junction to Beaver Creek via uncountable frost heaves to the AK border and then on to TOK.
I'm on Mayo Road (officially North Klondike Highway).

Heading any direction other than south from Whitehorse your options are: Dawson City (my road) or Beaver Creek (where racers test Baja suspension set-ups).
I serve beers and steaks. AK Hwy serves your kidneys on a platter.
Your choice. Hope you come for a visit.

Ok.  I was pointed the wrong way.  You're between WH and Braeburn?

here's what could prevent a trip to prudoe bay this summer:

http://www.adn.com/article/20150412/trucks-begin-moving-shifts-ice-plagued-dalton-highway

They're letting 30-truck convoys through in alternating directions and inspecting the highway between runs.  There are hundreds of trucks stacked up waiting to go in either direction.  It could take all season to relieve the backup.  During these events no 'civilian' traffic is allowed.  A traveler could sit in Coldfoot all year waiting for clearance to launch.

Looked at the news feed; said they were letting important payloads through first. Important is a relative term.
Call head to take orders from the rigs stuck in PB then fill the trunk of your trike with Cheetos, chocolate coffee beans, and jerky.
I'll be Highways will escort you through.
