Owner of Multiple Motorsports Brands, Files for Chapter 11
« on: November 29, 2017, 09:19:08 AM »
Not a good sign for the industry. I was wondering why JP Cycles and Motorcycle Superstore had merged and all of sudden started marking down merchandise as clearance sales. Some big name brands under MAG ownership, Tucker Rocky, Vance & Hines, Roland Sands Design (under Performance Machines), and J&P Cycles, •Velocity Holding Company, Inc.
•Velocity Pooling Vehicle, LLC
•DFR Acquisition Corp.
•Ed Tucker Distributor, Inc.
•J&P Cycles, LLC
•Kuryakyn Holdings, LLC
•MAG Creative Group, LLC
•MAGNET Force, LLC
•Motorcycle Superstore, Inc.
•Motorcycle USA LLC
•Motorsport Aftermarket Group, Inc.
•Mustang Motorcycle Products, LLC
•Performance Machine, LLC (owns Roland Sands Design)
•Ralco Holdings, Inc.
•Rally Holdings, LLC
•Renthal America, Inc.
•Tucker Rocky Corporation
•Tucker-Rocky Georgia, LLC
•V&H Performance, LLC (Vance & Hines)

Bummer! I never like seeing economic struggle...

I have a Roland Sands jacket. It is a beautiful jacket, but I would never pay $600 for one. I got mine for, I think, less than half that at a Harley-Davidson dealer on close out.

The market was still saturated from the boom , this is probably just an adjustment back to reality.

True but they're talking debt numbers closing in on $1B.

There are a crap load of small manufacturers who might lose in this if their debt is written off (if it or some of the holdings turn into a Ch 7).

They normally demanded 90 day terms from a lot of their suppliers.

Certainly an unfortunate fact , but it represents reality . Will be interesting to see how this plays out, these events are always a cautionary tale .

As I recall the husband of J&P died a few months ago and then J&P bought Motorcycle Superstore in Oregon.

I got a auction notice for Vance & Hines Performance fab shop in Brownsburg, IN

Lot of cool machining and robot welding equipment for sale.

Sad, as I had several V&H exhusts back in the late 80's and early 1990s.

I think they have simply moved production to other locations .

A big indication. Will be a shadow of itself in 20 years. The blame rests squarely on the smartphone

These things happen all the time. I worked for Hi-Point Racing in the '80's, which was purchased by Malcolm Smith Racing, which was owned at the time not by Malcolm, but by a bunch of crooks in Orange County, which was purchased in bankruptcy court by Tucker-Rocky distributing, which started as Ed Tucker Dist, who bought Rocky Cycle and Wheelsport.  It is a reorganization, so some names will disappear and others will stay with new ownership and reduced markets.

All the more reason to do business with MG Cycle, Harper's, AF1 Racing, Moto International, Hamlin Cycles, GuzziTech, and the many other MG-related folks when possible...they may represent the last of a dying breed, sadly...one day we may be shopping for Guzzi parts at a storefront marked "Antiques"...
