Yes.  If you have a center stand, use it.

You unscrewed the plastic bit from the oil fill hole, right?

I guess you could do that but I remove the plastic adapter that receives the dipstick. The small dipstick hole would be a PITA. Be careful reinstalling the adapter. Don't over-tighten it.

Buy oil,in 20 litre drum and get a drum pump. Easy.

I change my oil/filter at the same time as my valve clearance check.  The valve covers are off for the clearance check so I pour the oil into the top of the engine.  It is easy, quick and the oil all drains to the sump.  By the way, I carry a wrench to remove the plastic adapter if I need to add oil while on the road but have never needed to use it.  My engine does not use oil between changes.

A hint on the amount from Jim B at Rose Farms -- Fill the filter completely to the top before you re-install it.  Then add three liters of oil to the sump.  That will be the correct amount.

And only use this oil (http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u399/NHAPHD/Helly%20Kitty%20oil%202_zps1ci3k9wg.jpg)

I know each engine will be a bit different, but I would put in only 3 liters, some in the filter then the rest in the sump and it would put it about halfway on the dip stick.  Any more and it would just puke it out through the breather down the tube.  Same way on my 2V 1200 Sport.  And neither used any oil measurable amount between 6000 mile changes.

Thanks.  Eventually figured it out by staring at the adapter for 15 minutes.  Duah...

You guys are great.

Valves sound okay but suppose I should check 'em for Lola's initial inspection.

Gotta admit, she is a frisky little thing and that stock exhaust note gives her flavor too.

You will also want to tighten the clamps on the exhaust system joints.  Bring them up good and snug.  This will keep the asbestos gaskets in place.  Good idea to check them at least at every service interval.
