Title: 1997 Daytona RS $4300. Really??

Too good to be true right. Doesn't look real clean to me, but then I don't know them that well.

Might be legit.   At least it's not priced through the roof by some punter.

Has scratches and a damaged gas tank from falling over.   That lowers the value some, so this might make a nice bike for someone who always wanted one in the fastest red color and is willing to do or subcontract a little cosmetic work!

Thanks for the update. ;-T  I didn't find it on E-bay, so I missed the sale of it.

I want one of these BAD but it has the exact same miles as the ebay ad.  Hard to believe the guy bought it, never rode it and is going to take a 3K hit.  I suppose I better follow up though.

I'm doing it.  The first question is can I look at it.  If that's possible it's probably not a scam.  I have relatives near by to handle the deal if it's real.  Fingers crossed !!!!

Make sure they look at it in a public place, a co workers boy just got a life lesson in a scam.

DO NOT give them your credit card number and the CVV code.

Also, DO NOT give them your social security number or bank account number on the phone or by email.

I wonder if you can contact the previous owner on eBay? Just to ask which direction the bike went when it was sold, and also forward him the current advertisement.

Someone from WG contacted me after I had posted a picture of my CX on this list wanting to know if it was the same bike for sale in a Cleveland area Craigslist. It wasn't, someone grabbed my picture from photo bucket and was obviously running some sort of scam.

Oodle is not legit. The ad was lifted from a previous bona fide listing.

Oodle adds are not legit. I've had two bikes I sold show up there after listing them on E-bay.

In light of more knowledgeable advise, I retract my overly enthusiastic encouragement.

Serious question . If a site is known to be bogus , how do they stay in business ? I can understand a scam site popping up , it just seems odd that one could stay in operation for very long .

Who has authority, resources and desire to close them down?  These places exist because law enforcement has other pressing problems.

As I expected, if you ask to see the bike you never get a response.  I was 98% sure it was not legit but I had to try.  As nice as rockers Lemans V is I still want a couple more bikes.  A Daytona and a girder fork bacon slicer.  The quest continues.......... ..

Yes.  AND because the world is full of people that just jump at what they see as a "bargain" (not doing "due diligence" like we do here!) and give their money away to the first guy who asks for it!

"Oodle" is probably making money, which is why it's still running ...

http://www.publicdomainregistry.com/report-abuse/ (http://www.publicdomainregistry.com/report-abuse/)

I've never heard of Oodle before but if there are legitimate reasons to think they are encouraging scammers, they can be reported at this link. where I work we recently had a domain shut down because they were pretending to be a university and issuing phony Purchase orders for equipment. Just before shipment they would have the ship to address changed to a freight forwarder where it would be sent out of the country.

If they are at least partially legitimate, it may not work but the more reports they get....
