I loved my V7 until I read that piece. Now I realize that it won't accelerate, handle or ride comfortably. I can't believe I fooled myself so thoroughly for so long. My bike won't be worth anything now that the truth is out there. Worst of all, I don't even have a brown saddle and a matte green fuel tank. I'll be shunned at the Funky Bean. Life just sucks, y'know...

Cycleworld got one to test, and it brings me back to the old days of Cycle rag reviews of Moto Guzzi.   This kid Morgan, and he is a kid, see the video, ripped on it for several things that I'm pretty sure are bullshit.

You don't suppose one of the models REALLy has a brown swing arm... Whose idea was that?

Sigh.

The author complained that the older version Guzzi V7 with 48 crank horsepower did not “entice and intoxicate” him.   But he’s smitten by the new version that makes what—55 to 60 crank horsepower.   Huh?

In my opinion, he is clueless.

The appeal of the V7 is not the “intoxicating” horsepower or lack thereof.

And besides, anyone truly drunk on horsepower surely laughs at anything less than 100 to 125 crank horsepower.

The snickering tends to subside a bit at 125 rear wheel horsepower, not what any manufacturer claims at the crank.

Since I got my road license my bikes have all been about about 50hp. Thats 25 years of really slow bikes according to the magazines. Oddly, it has never stopped me from doing anything I want to do, including setting a brisk time from Calais to the south of France.

A lot of people in the magazines don't "get" Guzzis at all - thats why I like MSL (always) and the occaisional BIKE as they DO have writers that get it.

I've been preaching it here for years.  BIKE and MSL out of the UK have intelligent reviews and you NEVER hear the crap that the CycleWorld idiot mentions.  Yea, a longitudinal shaft drive bike moves sideways.  BFD!!!

Thank goodness we don't need no magazine moron to validate the purchase.

this just up on bikeexif:

I put nearly 30,000 miles on one so I'm not knocking the Ducati Scrambler, but he can keep it.  I'll just sit back and sip my beer while he adjusts those valves.
