I certainly had a great time.

Got to see old friends and made a few new ones.

Lots  of interest in the Converts (i saw 3) I know I was asked a lot of questions  How it works ( mainly from the younger riders)&.

A very THANK YOU to Randy and Nataly, Jo Ann , Jim Hamlin and to everyone who made this event a great success.

A huge tip of the helmet to the many hands involved in making it the best MG rally I’ve attended so far.

What a great rally!  Great weather, wonderful friendly people, so many interesting bikes, and on and on.  The riding was epic.  Hamlin's performed a yeoman's service to the rally!  I really enjoyed my V7-850 test ride.

Hats off to Randy, Natalie, and the numerous volunteers that made this event happen!

And to top it off I was able to meet Melissa Holbrook Pierson!

I've met Melissa a couple of times now. Offered her the AeroLario for a putt, but she didn't take me up on it.
As nearly as I can tell, she puts her pants on one leg at a time just like we ordinary people do.

I had a very good time, met a lot of old friends and made a lot new friends.  I did not meet Melissa, but I did meet Steve and Dave.
Thank you Randy, and all that helped put this together.  I wish I knew all your names to say them publicly.
I know it was a lot of work, and this was a terrific rally.

Wow, what a first ever rally! Couldn't NOT attend, at only about 150 miles away in Vermont! Here are a few more pics of some of the cool bikes!
Excellent to meet some of you, wish I could remember all of your names! Thanks for the education, TomB, great talking with you! Great to meet and chat with the long-distance winner, Richard, from WASHINGTON with a TRAILER!!

OK, last one is mine, so at least I think it's cool!  :afro:

I'm enjoying looking at all the photos. This was ONLY my third National to miss in the past 50 years. The first one was held in Manhatten, KS.
A few of us Texas boys were the only ones still drinking at 9 PM. Times changed to the point I was in bed and the tough ones were still drinking.

It has been one hell of a life that I wouldn't trade for anything. OTOH some old friends are talking about their stock portfolio, real estate deals, investments, etc. I'll take the memories.

A couple of weeks prior tothe Susanville Rally I was in the Reno dealership. I asked one of the salesman if they were going to take some bikess to the rally, especially the new V7 850. First of all he knew nothing about the rally. Secondly he said no, they wouldn't with no good reason given as to why not. Turns out that we had a couple of the new V7s there but the owners never rode them to my knowlege. They came and left on a trailer, I only heard one run when they loaded it. It is a shame some dealers don't do much to promote the brand.

Then there’s Hamlin’s.  Not only did they provide demo rides, but they serviced others bikes on site, on a lift!  I personally watched them hunt down parts and repair two of my Jersey buddy’s bikes.  One a toasted front wheel bearing (EV Touring), the other a fried fuse block (Cal1400).  They both wouldn’t have made it home.  And lest we forget about another guy’s first service on his new V85.

Yep.  And ALL expenses associated with supporting the event come from the generosity of the dealer.  There is zero corp support-monies-or any other kind for the dealer.  I'm mostly "live and let live" but (not on this forum) I hear A**Clowns say "stealer" I get a bit tiffed off.  Quite a few of us know the Hamlin crew and how genuine they are and total professionals.  Jim takes care of his customers like they are family-and plenty here know that.

Heck, back when he was at a Triumph/Guzzi dealership before his current shop, Motorcycle Cruiser magazine (remember them) wrote a story about Jim and I running from Bennington, VT to a half way spot to his shop to relay a stator for a broken down Tiger 1050.  Jim had the shop prep the parts, had one of his guys meet us halfway to "transfer the flag", and then we returned to have him fix the guys bike in the parking lot.  NO Charge for anything but the parts and install.  Heck, we were on vacation, there was a need, and Jim did what he does.  I was at his shop doing a small part to help get ready for the rally-but knee replacement date became available and I had to take it missing the rally.  That said, I know first hand how much work needs to be done to get everything ready right before the event-all while trying to keep up with the regular shop work.  The effort that goes into a successful event is tremendous.  All over at events, Hamlin is helping folks who need it.  The guy is a prince.

It is terrific to see what Hamlin did. We need more like him. Even though I am in Calif if I  ever buy a new bike it will from him or Cadre. Even with  shipping it will still be less than the Reno  dealership. i can do most of the work required if something more troublesome I will figure that out if and when it arises.
