We don't acknowledge the need for leap year in Okiehomie , 'tis why we are so far behind the rest of the country  ;) :D

LowRyter, I hope you were able to resolve your fifth wheel problem quickly and inexpensively. I owe you a box of your choice of cigars.  After two nights in the tent during thunderstorms, putting them up and taking them down,  loading two bikes, and loading the truck, Lorraine was eyeing your Toy Hauler. On the ride back she said that maybe we need to get one.   We found an 03 26 footer with a slide out  for $6500.  Haven't seen it, and will believe it when we bring it home, but you and your bride sparked "Lorraine's" idea to get a toy hauler.  :bow :D

No worries man.  You don't owe me damn thing.  That hitch has been toast for years and I finally put it out of it's misery.  :wife:     Since I have a short bed, I picked up a used slider hitch in OKC (got it for half price of new one).  Got my trailer back home by 4 o'clock today.  I wish my trailer had slide outs when we are crammed in there.  I am happy it doesn't when I work on the dang thing- which every time I take it out.  I understand the very new ones have improved slide out systems that are less likely to give problems.

If you get a toy hauler, even a light one like mine, I would go for three quarter ton truck as a minimum.  And if you get a heavy one (12k LB+), I'd go duallie.

Anyway, got home.  All OK.  The trailer is going in the shop to fix a plumbing leak and few other things.  This was a shake down camp out, getting it ready for the Indy 500 and perhaps the National, E NY, Grand Marais, maybe Canada.

I didn't shoot a lot of pics at CV this year, and better versions of most of the ones I did take have already been posted by others.

But I do want to add some pics of the small-block that Mike (mwrenn) rode in from Enid.

Mike is very low key about it all, but the more you study this bike, the more you are rewarded with the discovery of upgrades large and small. Everything is so well integrated and cleanly done that the extent of the modifications isn't readily apparent at first. Very impressive motorcycle, and he's not done yet.

With the black block and aluminum cylinders, the engine seems to play a more prominent part in the overall appearance of the bike.  Very clean and nicely done!

There was a period that Guzzi could only afford one decal.  ;D Several bikes have the eagle flying backwards.

Looks like your painter had eagle decals facing both ways, but chose to mount them facing rearward on both sides of the bike...

Look at the pics.  Eagles facing rearward on both sides in the pics of mwrenn's bike.  Mistake by the painter.

But yes, 1981-1996, all eagle decals had the eagle facing right, so decals on the left side of the bikes faced rearward:

It is not just the Eagle facing rearward the letters are also opposite. So on the left (sitting on the bike) Moto Guzzi goes from front to rear with the bird facing the same as the lettering.
The right side is the exact same decal put on in reverse. Moto Guzzi starts at the rear of the tank and faces  reads forward along the bird facing foward. Guzzi's and everybody else puts their names/decals on the same way.
All Guzzi's even those with the Eagle the lettering reversed. We read from right to left no matter which side of the bike we are looking at.

How do you mount a decal backward? It cannot be done can it. It can be painted but how do you apply a decal backwards. I thought decals only attach from one side.

As Chuck said.  There are left and right stick eagles.  On this bike they were mounted on the wrong sides, so both point rearwards...

But that does not make sense as the Eagles always face/follow the direction of the letters. There is no reason to make a right and left Eagle unless you wanted to point the Eagles in the same direction. All Eagles on all Guzzis have faced back on the left and front on the right which is following with the letters. So the painter did not do it wrong. If it was done as it always have been done then there is only one decal for the tank. They are identical. Guzzi must have changed the decals. Or someone had the decals custom made and therefore made the mistake during production.  These must not be a Guzzi decals.

Have you owned a Guzzi built between 1997 and current?  If so, then go look at the left side and note that the eagles face forward.

As seen here in this beautiful and rare green/black 1997 California 1100:

Don't worry, I'm usually arguing the point you just argued,  with people who think my 1996 Sport 1100 is a repaint, because the left tank eagle faces rearward!
