My bike left London today for the trip back to Australia on the boat.
I’ve come to the conclusion that I have been served very well by the Norge in Europe.
About 100,000 of the 208,000 km it has done, have been overseas and sometimes in some very remote places where a breakdown would be highly problematic.
The bike has done nothing mechanically wrong that can be attributed to itself, instead I can see where some intervention by me has generally precipitated an issue.
I’m eyeing off the 300,000 km mark as the next milestone, but do not feel the need now to ask her to face up again to a 20,000 km trip, so far from home.
The next time I go will be either on my V85 or London/Calais/Nordkapp/Calais /London on this..

I’d like to do something crazy, ill advised and demonstrably stupid on a bike.
All my other trips have been a bit “too safe…”.
I have a friend in Paris who wants to go to Nordkapp on his Honda Grom in 2024, I may yet send my bike to London and do it…. :bike-037:

If I take that Honda to Nordkapp it’ll be a thing…

You might just have to ship the old girl to Nth America and do some of the rally and perhaps visit Alaska from Seattle or Vancouver.

Your trip to the Arctic Circle was epic.
I have not done it in Canada/Alaska, only in Norway a couple of times on the way to Nordkapp. I always looked over your shots.
Magic…! :thumb:

great! get the postie over an enjoy! i'm looking for a small bike for my next travels ( probably a old vespa)
I spent too much barrelling down highways on big bikes , going back to small bike sounds like great fun.

With a better chain, and fresh tires, I think I could comfortably tour on my Van Van 200.

Go for it Huzo. Loved your grand tour of OZ. Definately time for something similarly eccentric.

Yes..
I like the concept of eccentricity…..(but not electricity).
-
Huzo, Anything is possible. Since We got a 300cc Kymco Scooter I have found out people are touring cross country or continent on much smaller 2 wheel devices! Even ebikes! Whod'a thunk?

Yes..

And why not (disregarding any practical considerations)? It's the two wheels that matter, not the noise, the pollution or the fuel source.

Throw out practical considerations then I would like to tour on a 1969 hardtail chopper, or maybe a Panigale.

I did Calc.
Wore it in the cold evenings as I said I would. Slept at the campground in Mandello with it on and I still love the smell.
My partner’s grandaughter loves it too.

Good bike. She definitely served you well. Hats off to you for retiring it from the more strenuous trips and not riding it into the ground. Sounds like you've still got some good miles ahead of you.

Keep riding the Norge. It might end up in a museum with your pictures, having reached a million km. The most popular Norge in the world.
Play the VIN #, it seems to be a lucky one.
-
heck Peter - I'm just standing by for the next great adventure coming from you....
and yes the Norge deserves respect

Huzo, you are my hero! Enjoy!

Possibly London-Nordkapp on the CT 110 Honda.

Whatever it is, you will do it and do it right Huzo. We are just spectators.
There are a lot of folk doing the same as me and more, they just don’t publiscise it as much…
But I do hope to inspire the odd one who is sitting on the cusp.
There will be a new thread starting soon, outlining a fiendish plan for June 22 in 2024.
The eagle eyed among you will notice that June 22 coincides with a rather important astrological event that can be enjoyed somewhere near it’s maximum at 71 degrees North.
The good news is that 71 degrees North is only 700 kilometres from the Arctic Circle in the direction of the North Pole.
What a great place to meet some wild geese….. :clock: :bike-037:
