NGC Triumph Thunderbird
« on: September 20, 2021, 07:23:28 PM »
A friend of mine has been itching to get back into biking, he had Triumph Tiger many years ago, but he hasn’t ridden for 20 years. Today he sent a text all excited about a 1998 Triumph Thunderbird I think he said 900cc, it has a little over 40,00 miles, and the seller wants $2000.00. I don’t know anything about triumphs or their models.
Any one have knowledge or experience with this bike?

If it has been taken care of it should be good.

Standard 3 cyl Triumph of the era, sorta detuned, chromed up Speed Triple.  Some are not so detuned.

Pretty popular with some with the fancy rear pipes, especially three on one side.

it should pass most Guzzis in a straight line.

I'm a fan of the first generation Hinckley Triumphs. They are Overbuilt and solid. As long as it wasn't abused, it should be a great bike.

The only downside is they have terrible resale values.

Agreed...If they have been well maintained, they just fine.  I rode a 1993 Trident 900 for 2 years when I lived in Aachen, Germany...awesome triple! :thumb:

Mine was sort of like this example...seen recently on the streets of Williams, AZ (Route 66 by the way...) :thumb:
