Not super horrible. Needs help, but can be done. Hope it goes to a good home and gets restored properly.
Saveable and worth the effort..there's something about a G5.
according to this, 3857 were made from 1979-1985. This was a fax from someone inquiring. It's on Wikipedia. True not true who knows.https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moto_Guzzi_V1000_G5
In the past, I was led to believe the G5 was the unheralded under the radar minority of the Tonti bloodline. But it sure seems like there's a lot of them out there. Every other listing I see lately... Wonder what the numbers actually were? I've got one you're welcome to borrow anytime, Chuck. In pretty good nick, too. Seems the previous owners showered a lot of love on the old girl.
And the side stand. Be still my beating heart.
Kidsmoke, just noticed you now have a G5? Reading in between the lines here I get the feeling it's Chuck's old one... or is that the Silver one you've mentioned a few times in the past with the metal side bags? If so, you purchased well for either and congrats! As far as good G5 threads go here... there are a bunch and because of my obsession, I think I've commented on most of them at one point or another (I can't help myself). I'd link them here, but that means I'm forced to revisit my old comments again... and that can be torture I'd say post away, I think most If not all here would like to participate in any G5 related questions or new threads! (maybe that's just me...)
your assumptions are correct. It's technically the 2nd I've owned but the first went through my hands very quickly, needed a lot, and got it from the person I sold it to, who was better suited to the task.Chuck period of stewardship on this here one here has concluded. I get the impression this bike has graced the garages of many of the assembled over it's lifetime. It's been well cared for, and used for it's intended purpose.it's titled as a 79, and shows Dec 78 as it's build date, which indicates to me it's early in the lineage. Absolute creampuff, and handles deceptively well. I'm happy. This one will stay for a while.
