The BORG...
And just like the BORG, certain bikes get into your head. I liked the V85TT so much when it came out that I refused to test ride it. Didn't want the ride entering into my dreams.
I was wanting something in addition to the Road Glide that I could do multi-day trips on while setting the GPS on shortest distance and not having to turn around when the road gets rough.
The V85TT kept bubbling to the top, so when solorider73 offered to let me ride his bike I started researching again and decided it was time to ride one. It was a great ride, so the next day I went up to Sloans and took a demo bike out for a ride on my demo bike route so I can compare with all the other bikes I have ridden.
The Guardia D'onore is the best deal on a V85TT if you were already planning to add most of the accessories, and being a limited edition was icing on the cake.
-
So...after the successful DEMO RIDE...did you buy or order one?

I ordered a 2022 V85 travel. No more of the limited bikes were available. It's at Hamlin's being "hamlinized" to get ready to pick it up.
Due to a MAJOR lifestyle move, I had to, sigh, sell my perfect 2015 V7 and 2001 Jackal as room will be at a premium.
I'll live!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Travel was my second choice. The 2022 color flows with the panniers much better than last year's color.

Congratulations on your new bike.

Sure would be interested to hear what being "hamlinized" entails.

Seven of Nine would ride a V85....and look good doing it. Congrats on the cool new bike!

Probably a radar detector…

Good looking bike...congrats!
Glad S####'s allowed you a test ride!
Perhaps one day I'll see it in person.
On another note sold my 96 Cali i this week!

Nice looking and good luck. Myself I'm looking to replace my totaled 2020 travel with a 2021 basic tt/no bags. If anyone is selling that let me know.

New exhaust, radar detector wiring, Garmin mount and wiring, fuse block, aux lights, powerport under right leg, and completly broken in with first service preformed. Caponord front fender added.
It's a long trip to pick it up and I'm almost out of time. Jim will have it all set to go. I take over service from there.
-
Congratulations. That looks like quite the ticket

Nice bike Dave ! Congratulations , ain't nothing like breaking in a new bike !

Don't forget to embellish that Caponord fender.

Hi Twowheeladdict,
Congratulations on the V85!
How was Sloan's to deal with?
I want a V85 Travel, and plan to get one if I can sell my '21 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT. I was up at Sloan's about a month after I got the Tracer and that's when I realized the V85s had gone to tubeless tires. Dang! I'd have bought one instead of the Yamaha if I'd known. I've kept the Tracer this long because I kept thinking I'd get over it. But apparently not!
The Yamaha dealer I dealt with was great until they had my money. I'm just wondering if Sloan's is any better. I'd really just like a dealer that will return my calls or emails.
Cheers!
Craig

I considered the Tracer 9 and sat on one at all sport, but since I like to put the GPS on shortest distance and not avoid gravel or dirt roads the V85TT made more sense. Shaft drive and air cooled and Guzzi was icing on the cake.
You know what you want to sell for, and Sloans likes trade ins since the supply is low, plus they have a new Travel on the floor. You might be able to work out an amicable deal.
When I have brought a bike in for work I have spent the wait time test riding bikes. Haven't needed any warranty work on my V7. If you buy a V85TT, we can form a Tennessee Valley club because there will be four of us.
-
I tried to work out a trade, but their offer was ridiculously low, and they wouldn't budge.
Hopefully I'll be able to add another Guzzi to the garage soon, though!
Cheers!

Very nice! This is possibly my favorite color scheme. If you go play in the dirt expect an extended clean up time - with all that black you'll be finding dirt everywhere.
-
It may be a little far afield for you, but Enzo at Cadre gives great trade in values. A man of his word. He has a great passion for the brand.
-
Thanks, Blu Guzz!
I'll keep them in mind.

Thank you! And what a fantastic motorcycle, only been about two weeks now, but every time I take her for a spin I fall more madly in love with her, lol. In all the bikes I've had this is by far the best of them, Moto Guzzi really knocked it out of the park with this one!

They sure did! I had to celebrate with a custom novelty plate.

The plan is to mount it below the permanent plate to fill in the space designed for the Italian bike plate.

That is a fantastic idea, very nice! I'm not sure what I'm going to do back there, I think I might have to buy a used rear plate mount / mud guard on ebay or something to play with. There's a bit too much scaffolding back there for my liking, lol

My triumph trophy SE had the seat release in the same location so a fender extension was mounted to keep the key slot from getting gummed up. I need to investigate the dimensions of the European plate mount. Mmm.

You make a good point about the seat release, hadn't thought of it getting gummed up but that certainly wouldn't be any fun! Hmmm, what to do, what to do...

I have the same bike and in Cincinnati (Milford). What part of town you in?

I'm on the other side of Cinci, Springdale near Tri-County mall. Though I won't be able to use that as a reference much longer since the mall is going away soon. We should meet up for a ride sometime! Sadly I just keep missing the monthly breakfast, always something in the way it seems.
-
A small piece of duct tape over the keyhole works, too. Just sayin.............. ......
-
The seat release is pretty well protected from dirt and road scum. I give it a squirt (inside slot) once in a while with WD40 straw to keep it smooth. Same with the bag mount locks.

Futile indeed, part II!
Sloan's was a little more generous than I thought they would be for my T9GT trade, so a V85TT Travel came home with me on Thursday!
I love it! Put a little over 300 miles on it as of yesterday, and I think it's a keeper.

Awesome that’s four that I know of with a fifth supposedly in the area.
Have you been to the Casual Pint on the EV in the background? If so, I’ve seen it there or one like it last summer.
-
Yep, it’s nice..
Are you going to go somewhere on it..?
-
Hi Solorider,
That probably was me at the Casual Pint! There was probably a Road Glide there as well.
Huzo: If you mean me, then yes, I will probably go somewhere on it. I usually do.
Cheers!

I’m heading out on a road trip Wednesday. When I get back we should meet up with TwoWheelAddict and kick some tires.

Solorider,
Sounds good!
Have a safe trip.

Awesome! If they wouldn't have had the Guardia D'Onore, the Travel was my second choice.
I just did 500 miles of back road riding over the last two days.

Nice! Cowan is a nice town. Plus, the road up to Sewanee comes next!
You'll be done with your break-in miles pretty soon. Can't wait to move the shift warning lights up!

Looks like V85TTs are selling well at Sloans. They only have a base and '21 Centenario on the floor, but are showing several arriving including another Guardia D'Onore.

Hey Two Wheel: Sorry I haven't jumped in before but I'm always late to a date. However, I too have a 30" inseam and have made some changes to my bike that are almost enough for me to sit flat footed. Lowered the bike at the front roughly 4 lines at the triple clamps, installed a 1" shorter rear spring and run the spring adjuster all the way down, also have the lower Guzzi seat (which ironically is shorter but once squished with me on it, isn't really lower) which I ever so slightly prefer anyway. I pulled the rubbers out from under the seat all of which have made this bike pure joy. However, your Centauro GT looks sensational as well. I may need to add another Goose alongside my V85 but for now, am happy as a lark. Here is a picture of my bike today but sadly doesn't clearly show it is lower nor the black bags that I always travel with. After uploading the image I found that clicking on it shows it complete! Wow, the things I learn. All the best!

Two Wheel Addict, yes I did along with a few other bits! Not seen too is a seat back that quickly mounts to the Givi rack for my missus when we don't have the top box on. Gives her comfort! All the best, PC
