It looks good to me and I like the bags. Those are decent bags. In LA. I kept a .44 in the left one that I could access by reaching back, flipping the catch. Mostly water resistant. What were the rpm’s at a hundred? :thumb: :thumb:

I have a 73 that has the steel tank badges and according to the V7 sport bible by Ian Falloon the second series 73 from VK13205 - VK13840 all had the steel badge.
my 73 with steel badges.

Thanks for this further clarification.

I didn't look. I just replaced the tachometer with the one from MG Cycle, so I finally have a steady needle and should have looked. I'd be surprised if the real speed worked out to as much as 90.

I don't usually go so fast on what was not a wide open road. Just happened to see I was close to "100" so I goosed it up a bit for a moment. No need to tell you there was plenty left.

Just went out to check. Looks like 5200 at "100" in top gear. I also took a GPS unit which showed 68 mph when the speedometer was reading 80.

Together, they suggest about 85 actual mph when the speedometer reads 100. Not surprising.

This is not to forget that these T3's are pretty fast for their day, with a two-way average speed of 116 found in a contemporary test at the MIRA facility in England. I myself used the tachometer and nearby milepost timings to calculate I had achieved 116 115* mph on a one-way run on a deserted Idaho highway, probably with some tail wind, long ago. So 85 is nothing to a T3.

It is probably better for an old fogey like me to think he is going near 100 when he is really going 85. Time makes me forget just how pitiful these old Veglias really are.

I wish I had a means of correcting that speedometer.

*[EDIT] I checked my log --the calculations worked out to 115.

I appreciate the scientific approach! On Tkelly’s T3 (that you’ve ridden) the speedo was fairly accurate at lower speeds. Never tested at the ton though…

Moto, I have to say I love your bike and the way it has evolved. I have been starting almost every day with a look at the images you have posted. Kinda like a warm sunrise, it puts a smile on my face!

Steve,

Wow! Thanks, you've made my day. In appreciation, here's another view, the last of my little photo shoot the other day:

Hope you enjoy it too.

Best wishes, John/Moto
