I have been trying to find one of these chrome rear fender guards for some time, anyone possibly have a source, or have I overlooked somewhere?

Isn’t that a Harley part?

I've never seen that on any of my Loops. One Ambassador and 5 Eldo's. I still have 3 Eldo's and the Ambo.
-
Not a Harley part, was made by DB (Dan Brown) specifically for Loops. Protects from small bumps, but one with bit more force will still buckle the fender. More decorative than anything. Have you checked with Harper's? Mark @ Moto Guzzi Classics?

Thank you for that bit of information! Strictly like the asthetics :thumb:

I assumed it was aftermarket from that time period.

Ok. Good luck with the hunt. Looks good. :thumb:

I have an Eldorado that resides in my garage with one on it and I have always admired that classy touch.
More than thirty years ago the current owner's father was bumped from behind at a stop sign and the fender still shows a crease on the right-hand side. But the fender guard looks straight and unscathed! And if anyone has a spare passenger peg to replace the original that got damaged, I'm interested in purchasing one.
I've always enjoyed the subtle finishing touch that it adds to a classic motorcycle. I hope you find one for your Eldo.

That would not be that difficult to manufacture and be chromed
-
Had one on my former Eldo. Rare and hard to find. If you do, it's gonna cost ya. They used to pop up on eBay, but haven't seen one lately.

I learned that when I went from Pegs to floorboards $$ but I love them and it was worth it.

Thanks I feel the same way.

Saint Louis Metal Plating does a great job on plating used parts. They specialize in automotive plating and restoration. Reasonably prices, fast turn around.

like Charlie stated, its a Dan Brown part from the 70s. I have one on my eldorado, its a pretty sturdy/heavy piece, made out of solid round steel. I didnt know they had become rare.Possibly Harpers would have one.

Another person to check with: Michigan (Southern) MGNOC Rep. Paul Szostak. He has a lot of older Guzzi parts and accessories. His contact information can be found here: https://www.mgnoc.com/staff_and_reps.html

Yeah, I like the look of that DB fender farkle. I got one off of ebay years ago with a potpourri of other ambo/eldo stuff but I didn't notice that the piece was missing one of its mounting tabs. One of these days I'll fab the tab and get it welded on. Then I'll have to decide whether paint, powder coat or re-chrome. I make my own headaches.

I put one on ebay about 10 years ago. I could not believe the feeding frenzy it caused. It finally ended up going to Italy for a pretty penny.
