Title: Seat recovering
Post by: dxhall on December 13, 2018, 09:57:46 PM
The stock seat on the new-to-me SP III needs to be redone.  Anyone have any favorite seat places?  The place I’ve used here in Denver is no more.

Rich Maund out of Virginia. He has done my SPIII a couple times. I wear them out.
Will see if I have contact info somewhere,  it's been a number of years.

If you want to try to do it yourself. I think Harpers still has complete seat covers, no sewing needed. You remove the old cover and slide on the new. Ebay also has seat covers for Guzzi. They may have the one you need. The last time I did a stock loop, it was about $90

Just got a reply from Mr. Maund.  He still does some upholstery part time but will not do another SPIII. Too difficult.
Keep us informed once you get yours done. My cover is beginning to crack again, so may get another one before I can't ride it anymore. 160K miles and counting.

You might contact these folks and see if they do a cover for the SP III:

Does it have any cover on it now that could be used as a pattern? I use a one-man shop in Hagerstown, MD for all of my motorcycle seat needs.

The old cover is in sad shape, but is there.  Charlie, would your place do an SP III?  I don’t want to give this to a place I don’t know and find out that it is the Maaco Auto Body of seat restorers.

Might check here. They did my T-3 seat and I have been very satisfied. They use to do the seats for Big Dog Cycles.

go to any upholstery shop.  Prolly $75.   :thumb:

You might add a gel pad while they're at it.

I don't know for sure that Warren would, I'd need to ask. A photo to show him would help.

I sent the LMIII seat to seargent, they use layers of different closed cell foams similar to the meterials used in one of my former careers, wheelchair seating. They’ve Tested the foams used with the same pressure mapping we used for people with no sensation in lower extremities:they’ve done thier homework. My three seat works nicely.

Dx, If you want to stay local try Bitchn Stitchn, http://www.bsseats.com/, I have had 3 or 4 seats done by them, not cheap but good work.
