Flight of geese at Colorado BMW rally
« on: July 20, 2019, 08:03:15 PM »
Here we are, seven geese among about 500 beemers in Paonia. This was Saturday morning, before the birds took flight. Left to right: Breva 1100, California 1400, Stelvio, Mille, Roamer, 850T, Norge. Three additional bikes -- two Stelvii and a California -- were out riding.

How was the rally, overall?  I've owned a bunch of Beemers, and attended a few nationals.  Always found there were enough people in attendance that it was easy to find like minded riders.

Best rally in Colorado(Top of the Rockies rally). 30 years in our little town of Paonia. Colorado BMW club is VERY eclectic as far as bike brands in the club. For instance, that is me, a long time Guzzi rider standing next to my Stelvio in the picture. I have been running registration for this rally for 15 years!

The grinning idiot next to the Mille, and to the right of Archangel, is me. I talked to all the Guzzisti but my short term memory spun its bearings and I only remember names for Joe from the Texas hill country (California) and Bob from Carbondale (850T). I really love the restoration Bob did: repro LeMans tank, Shoei 5 fairing, dual discs etc and gorgeous paint.

The rally was a lot of fun. Gail and I rode the F650 down on Friday night to listen to the excellent live blues trio. BMWs of all stripes, of course, including a 1955 R50 polished better-than-new. Beyond Beemers there were Gold Wings, KTMs, Ducatis, Africa Twins, VeeStroms, etc.
