It's been hot enough to run the air, although I've resisted it.     :whip2:

Hi 80s here yesterday, mid 80s 89 today,

freezing Sunday morning.

I was outside cooking Chuck from Indyaner's wing recipe and my little buddy returned.  The temps droped from 85 to 69.  I hope the little Black Chin doesn't get discouraged when it freezes to 31 on Sunday.

if you look closely you can see a little purple on his neck.

Woke up at 2:00 this morning, laying there wondering why (sleeping with the screen door from the bedroom to the porch open), and then off in the distance heard the year's first whippoorwill.

A significant annual event, because anytime after the first whippoorwill here, it's time to plant corn and beans ....

Not enough meat there to worry him Yogi, but the cold wind tonight might.

It's the first time I ever seen one in my patio.  I won't take a shot, he's traumatized enough.  When I set up the hummingbird feeder, I put it close to the same spot where he's perching but none would get that close to the house.  So I moved the feeder away from the house and they were there within minutes.

And thank you Chuck for the buffalo wing recipe.  Really good.   :thumb:

I was sitting out on the patio tonight and saw big kurfulckle among two birds, they fought and fell down a couple of branches.  I am pretty sure a Blue Jay flew away.  This guy was still there.

Of course the original post was the Cardinal standing in SNOW. I am so sick of that stuff I can't hardly wait to escape to Cedar Vale! We had one purely fantastic day last Friday and I did manage to get several hours of riding. That, so far, is the only time I have had the bike out this year. The roads have been covered with salt unless we had a good rain or two. Then, ir snows again and they apply more salt. Last night, we had another 1 to 3 inches. I'm hoping they refrained from salting once again. It's almost like they have to use it up to make space for the summer supplies that the use, IDK :violent1: :undecided:

Anyway, thanks for letting me vent a little.

Her

I was hiking / birding with some friends last weekend in southern Arizona, near Sierra Vista / Hereford, and very close to the Mexico border.  The southern part of the state is also very scenic and beautiful if you like wide open spaces, mountains, canyons, and blue skies! A few images for you to ponder...:1: :thumb:
