Thanks everybody for posting to this thread. I'm 5'-8" and weighed 223 at my last physical on 10/11. I normally swim 4 days a week for 45 min per session, but my pool's been closed since March 2020 due to - and then remodeling so have gained weight. Have been prescribed meds for heartburn too. 3 days ago I started a spreadsheet listing everything I eat every day, and made spreadsheets of calorie counts for all the foods I typically eat and feel I should eat in the future. The weight/age/calorie calculators say I need about 2,700 calories a day to maintain 223 pounds. The last 3 days I've been consuming around 1,200 calories/day and have already dropped 5 pounds. Feels good. Haven't had heartburn since too.

2 winters ago I took my van to southern Baja for 2 months of windsurfing and lost 20 pounds. Ate a lot of fish tacos. Am leaving at the end of the November to do the same, this time for a little longer. Hoping to come home in February weighing 185.

I am trying something new this week. Two margaritas a day for the next 30 days. May not loose weight but damn I feel good!

Yep and I live outside of Chattanooga Tn in the stroke belt of the United States so it’s time I cut back!  Day two so far!

Something that helped me was using a treadmill and seeing how much work it took it burn calories, that cut way down on my snacking.  I don't follow any kind of diet, just try and eat somewhat sensibly, cut back on sugary stuff and don't stuff myself (cut down on portions).  Moderate exercise a couple times a week.  Not all programs work for all people so experiment around to see what works for you.  Good luck, it can be done, you can do it, if it doesn't work the first time take a mulligan and start again, no penalty.

The best way to lose weight is to consume less calories than you burn.  Dr Dean Edell used to say "Shut your mouth and take a walk".  Simple advice.  No complicated program.

Here's another Keto guy, currently 4 months in and down 28 lbs. 53 years old, 6'3", currently 231 lbs. Keto works for me because I love food and can still eat many of my favorite things, just no carbs which I realize now are evil ;-) I expect the no/low carb lifestyle to be permanent, but once I get down to a sustainable weight I plan to 'cheat' a bit. Plenty of interesting videos on YouTube about carbohydrates and how they contribute to poor health. Also check out movie called "Fat' on Amazon, etc.

EDIT: Key thing I forgot to mention, eating carbohydrates makes you more hungry. I don't remember the science of how it works, but I can say for me I'm a LOT less hungry on the no/low carb diet, which obviously makes it much easier to reduce calories, which is the bottom line for losing weight.
