Title: Rear Bag Recomdations 850 LeMans
Post by: 1down5up on December 25, 2019, 01:30:05 AM
All,

Looking to buy a strap/Velcro style set of removable bags for my mostly stock 850 Lemans and V7 sport and hoping for some recommendations.

I'm not after panniers or large bags to fit a wardrobe in, just some added carrying capacity for a few days/week away on the bike. Something relatively easy to take off and put on, so when staying at a friend's house etc I can take off and into the house.

Would prob only look to hold a few clean clothes rolled up, some tools and maybe a bit of food etc.

Any recommendations?

I use this banana type bag. Cheap and very useful.

Chase Harper. Worked great and held a lot, and with the tail bag you could carry stuff for the rest of your buddies too.

X2 for chase harper throw overs. Mine are older but still great, been very happy with them on my v7 Sport.

I have a pair of Eclipse bags. Soft sided with a plastic back. I have used them on my LeMans and Norton. Once the straps are setup it takes seconds to get the bags on and off. No longer made but there is a set on eBay now for small money. Not mine, usual disclamers.

I, too, like banana bags, but they likely provide more carrying capacity than you're after. I also use waterproof roll top duffles (mine are from Ortlieb, in small & medium) lashed on with Rok Straps, or the Kriega R20 or R30, that come with their own fixing system. These are waterproof roll tops as well. A rear rack may be useful for these, but is not necessary.

I also use the Chase Harper bags.  Older bags but have served me well.  Easy on/off system.

I like roll top bags as well. 2 or 3 sizes will cover most any reasonable need from 2-3 days to a month. Bungee cords are dangerous. Rok straps are very good.  R3~

On my old 850 Le Mans, I used a CORTECH (expandable) tail bag + a tank bag.

Good for a week's travel if you motel it...

Anyone have any experience with Longride bags?

They are a bit more retro/hipster/Cafe but the quality looks great.

Was looking at the Patriot
