Very tempting but just far enough away (8 hrs) to make it difficult. Could also be a title problem in NJ given our draconian DMV regulations. That said it could be an incredible deal and there are quite a few other bikes under $500.

Buy'em by the bunch!

It would be just my luck that I'd get it at a deal and it would be one of the C/S failure units and Guzzi wouldn't cover it.

What is the “C/S failure “ that you speak of?

There was a bad batch of crankshafts on a run of the V7II (almost or only on a run of the Stones).

On the suspect models the clutch goes out of adjustment repeatedly in the first few hundred to thousand or two miles as the crank thrust washer either fails or falls out of position allowing excessive wear and the crank starts to walk back on the block taking up the clutch free play again and again until the engine seizes.

No publicly defined VIN range for the bad cranks.

ONLY solution is complete engine replacement (at the least a short block).

This could be fine or or could very well be an undiscovered member of that club.

Kev,

Thanks, that is very good info. I assume that was just on the 2016 model year?

Interesting info about crank problems. Had no idea about these potential issues. GSA states it has 186 miles. Usually , they will seize a bike, car ,etc . In a narcotics prosecution. If you’re caught, convicted then what they can grab is GONE! It ends up on these GSA auctions. Interesting to see what is for sale at times. I like when they put up a lighthouse for auction.

Surely they are not all seizures?

The website madev it sound like these were purchased and used for testing (maybe EPA related)?

EPA related? Possible I guess but doubtful. I think most of the stuff  - from high end drug boats to planes , bikes and cars are seizures. The DEA , etc. turn them over to GSA for disposal. It’s quite a site to look thru.

But what's the chance the DEA regularly seizes vehicles with under 300 miles near Ohio.

I thought I read something in those listings about "test" vehicles.

Let me check again.

Yup, this language (U.S. Government test vehicle) was on all the Uber low mileage vehicles that I checked.

That’s how,I interpreted the ad verbiage. Some type of governmental testing.

You’re right. Don’t know what they are testing for but someone will get a good deal. It’s at $1600 now and probably only needs a battery.

Now at $2105.  It looks like Bidder#2 has a higher proxy bid.
The rear brake lever looks like it has a wooden peg. Also, the right muffler looks like it is out in the breeze.
Also, the VIN is 17 off from my red V7II Stone, which had one on the bad engines.  Caveat Emptor!

Well, if I’m going to gamble, I’d rather it go to a good cause, like the Cadre raffle.

I'd like to check out the Govt justification or proposal that got the bike purchased in the first place.

More importantly, I wonder if the operator needed that, a GSX-R or a Rokon?  Anyway, they're getting rid of it.
