National treasure and one of my longtime heroes. Watched a large part of his Sessions at West 54th Street on YouTube last night, got choked up about 15 times. Hope he can pull through. The guy has endured divorce, cancer, and far too many early Dylan comparisons. Dylan, btw, is a giant Prine fan.
I was amazed that this young man was able to paint such vivid pictures with such simple words.
Over the years, he became one of my favorite poets.
so I kept my John Prine stuff in the Guzzi Garage (tm) and shop. I came in one time and sang "Can I go all the way with you," and she changed her mind a little.
It shows how deeply Prine’s music touched many of us when I realize that after almost 50 years, I can still remember all of the lyrics to “Sam Stone.”
I just read his condition improved to stable from critical. Get well John Prine.
I remember posting a link to John singing Sam Stone years ago and Lannis asked me not to do that again
Way back in 1972 I was in college at SIU Carbondale,my roommate was a music major, guitarist and he turned me on to John Prine! Just last week on my google news I read where they shut down Paradise, the coal burner power plant, down in Newlinburg county where paradise lay ...
Ah yes, misquoted lyrics,I should have looked them up,but Lannis was there to correct me!thanks...
