V9 is the “Goldiblocks" of Guzzi imho
« on: June 02, 2020, 02:27:42 PM »
I can hear ya now but just check this out.
I’ve had the big blocks, just got another EV, and the small blocks, but for my money all around, this V9 is “just right”!
Hence, I’m calling it Goldiblocks!
You may adopt it or not..... :bike-037:  :thumb:
Now if I could only find a windscreen..... I know, search the forum, which I have but I just haven’t found THE one...yet. BTW, I had a Roamer OEM shield and holy buffeting batman!

p.s. No I haven’t ridden a V85

DART Marlin.

I’ve seen that one and I'll check it out more closely.
Do you remember if it was handlebar, headlight or fork tube mount?

DART Marlin.
'Had a Dart Marlin on a V7 and it worked quite well lifting air off my chest.  I don't recall any buffeting up to 75ish or so, but I didn't enjoy riding much faster than that anyway other than quick squirts up to 85 or so on the highway.  The Marlin made for a pleasant riding experience (for me).   And it wasn't bad looking, either.

I think you're right...I came to that surprise realization last year after riding a V9 back to back with a V85.

I rode a BS (Bobber Sport) on a whim not expecting anything.

I loved it. The V85 is a great bike, but not for me, it felt too much like our Duc in the way it made power.

But the V9 had the nimbleness of the smallblock with more of a torque feel like a big block.

A perfect balance!

Well I guess I am Bobbin (Bobbing?) on a Bobber. Gotta say I really like the size and puts out more than enough power to get performance awards. The power delivery is so smooth and linear I go through a couple of gears and find I need to slow down a bit.  :thumb:

I’ve never ridden a V9, but some informed opinion says they are a much maligned and underrated piece of kit.
Given that they pull really well and have no inherent issues, one wonders if the V85 could have simply inherited the V9 donk...
By all accounts, the more linear torque output would have been just as good a fit for semi off road applications. I’m happy with the power of my V85, but wouldn’t have busted out bawling if it had a LITTLE bit less..
The reduced development costs and the apparent plethora of unsold units, would suggest that the ‘85 would have hit the showroom floor at quite a bit less $$$ than the current offering in the V85.
If my V85 exploded in a shower of mechanical shrapnel for some reason and I had to meet the costs myself, knowing that a V9 donk would fit straight in....?
I’d be sorely tempted to slide the ‘9 in for the reduced cost benefit if I got one from a crashed unit.
I would certainly have a ride on one if it was offered, even though I don’t want one.

LOL! You've decoded the secret that Loopframe and T owners have always known. A bike with enough power and weight but not too much. IMHO the only thing wrong with the Norge is too much power, the 850 would have been fine but didn't come to America.
Enjoy your V9! You've hit the jackpot!!

Dunno mate..
But I guess they have to try to wring some power out of the thing so as not to look too piss weak in the company of their competitors..
They still look piss weak up against a similar Ducati or KTM, but I choose not to care.
I don’t know if it flies in the face of good business practice but for old farts like us, a V9 TT priced significantly lower than the ‘85, may very well bring it into the grasp of those that fall a few grand short of the required purchase price.
I would still have bought the ‘85 but only because I have small man’s syndrome and my mate said he’d be prepared to bet I wouldn’t..
Let’s face it, unless you’re Toby Price or that Yank that he GIFTED last year’s Dakar to, none of us would know the damn difference..(we’ll I wouldn’t anyway..)

I have the OEM windshield on my 2013 Stone. I mounted it as upright as possible. The buffeting was bad. Then I tilted it back as far as possible. Now it takes the wind off my chest, the helmet is in clear air.
