Dog Pics 2015
« on: January 03, 2015, 07:17:10 AM »
A little over 5 years ago, this little bugger wondered into the library I was then managing.  Someone came and told me, "There's a dog in the library."  She was incredibly dirty, tagless and collarless, circling the landing inside the entrance all the while growling in the cutest, leave me alone kind of way.  I said okay fine and just sat down on the interior steps beside the landing to wait and see what would happen.  She continued circling and growling a bit at me before contentedly hopping up to sit on the steps beside me.  I knew immediately she would be coming home with me.  Took her back, gave her two baths - both where fleas just floated off her - and where she actually changed from a brown to a blonde dog.  I posted flyers but nobody claimed her and I secretly harbored the idea that I would not hand her over even if they tried.  At the vet they said she was between 5-8 mos. old then.  She quickly demonstrated a knack for running in front of you, leaping and sliding on her back with her belly up at you.  Flopsy was so named and history followed.  My wife has since turned her into some kind of canine queen and they have bonded beyond measure.  I try and remind her often that it is me, in fact, not my wife who rescued her from the hard streets of west Louisville; yet, Flops won't have much of it and wifey remains first in her heart.  I don't mind.  Because it's unknown exactly, wife jokes that her birthday is each year on January 1st, hence the five year hat.  Flops only suffers such humiliation and indignities because she's well aware it doesn't get any better than wife's arms.  Anyone else got some good dog pics for 2015 so far?

My oldest daughter got a eurasian puppy this late fall.
Never heard about that kind of dog before. Got to add that he's very cute and well behaving - so far.
He's now nearly four months old, here they are a few days ago.

Fantastic pics of these loveable mutts.  But with names like Captain and Judge and such, I'm worried these canines might be saddled with too much duty.  ;)  Are they getting rightly spoiled as well?    ;D

Hop this posts. This is my Kangal/Maremma cross livestock guardian dog. I watched her and her Akbash buddy hang a licking on a bear marauding a plum tree on the place this fall. Their job is to keep predators off my sheep flock.

I don't know how to post pics, but have two great dogs.  Ludwig (lucky) is a 6 yr old miniature Schnauzer, and his girlfriend (Annie) is a similar age mixed breed Humane Rescue.  Nothing bothers Lucky and there's no one that he doesn't love. Annie (short for Little Orphan Annie) is sweet, but is for sure an Alpha female.  Lucky and our two cats know that Annie is the pack leader.  She's never mean, but lets them know that she's boss.

Last summer as I was about to step outside onto the patio after dark Annie rushed past me and all hell broke lose.  When I grabbed a flashlight I found Annie with half of a rattle snake in her mouth.  She had ripped it in two, getting bit in the process.  I checked the blood trail and found that the rattlesnake was right about where I was going to step, so she saved my butt.  I broke a few speed limits getting her to the animal hospital, and thankfully ti was in time to get her the anti-venom shot.  She stayed overnight, but I got her home the following day. She's been fine since then.  As an aside, that's the second rattle snake that she's killed, and the second time that she's been bitten.  There is no fear in that little female.

What a great story.  If you have any pics on the computer and can send them to an email address, drop me a pm and I'll share my email and can then post your pics here for you.

Very sorry.  So tough.  My best friend lost a dog a couple years ago and he's stated that he misses the dog more than his own brother who also passed not long afterwards.

Caught napping in my Gibson L5 Wes Montgomery case. Parked between my Browning Sweet 16/Mini 14 and my winter project '59 98cc Moto Parilla.

Can you say 'eclectic'? (More likely 'unfocussed'.)

As for the OP, I had exactly the same experience many years ago with an English Pointer that showed up at my shop late one afternoon. At the end of the workday I left the overhead door up about 20" so she could go home or wander off if she wanted to. When I got there the next morning she was curled up in an old arm chair I kept in the office. I ran ads in the paper and called all the local vets and shelters, no answers. She was with me (and my other dog) for many years.

There are few things better than a good 'found' dog.

Not sure I would have been happy with my dog napping in my L5 case.  I would really want that case to protect my L5.  I Wish I had an L5. :'(  I'll just hav to settle for my Casino. ;-T

Posting these here for Stan.  First pic is of Annie, rattlesnake killer.  The other is of Lucky and his good buddy Peaches.  All reportedly get along quite well.  Very cute.

Here's my babies.

Elijah is my oldest, just turned 18, but still bounces around like a puppy sometimes!  I got him when he was 3 months old and abandoned on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere.  Here he's trying to take over the little dogs' bed, probably because the cat got his!

As I said, Rikki was "caught" napping in my L5 case....I can assure you it didn't happen again!! I'm lucky to have the L5, it was a super deal I fell into.

For that matter, I'd like to have a Casino :-)
