Planning on it. Putting a new transmission in the Lario as we speak. Normally, I go to the National Antique Airplane fly in over labor day weekend, but they've priced me out.

Did a drive-by in a cage a few years ago, and now plan to attend more appropriately wheeled on the Griso ... which I'll ride IHO and memory of Roberto.  Miss him.

Anyway, as I have (near-)religious objections to anything even resembling camping , I have a motel room reserved at the BW in Z'ville.

A slob in my own house (especially when, as now, Kathi is out of town  :thewife: ), I am a neatness freak in other folks' homes and hotels.  If anyone is similarly afflicted (as to camping and fastidiousness) and wants to share the room -- 2 queen beds -- and split the cost ($207 for Fri & Sat nights; 1/2 = $103.50), PM me.

Google maps says <13 miles to rally: https://goo.gl/maps/SbNpL

In the interest of full disclosure, Kathi defames me constantly by alleging that I snore.    On the bright side, I will have some decent Kentucky sleep meds with me.

Looking forward to seeing all.

I am SO looking forward to this rally!  Everything is getting in order properly!  I want to see everyone's smiling faces and enjoy a nip or two off of Cleveland Steamer's Crown bottle!      And...maybe a hit off the Dickel bottle!  Already, I miss Jack Arnold.   This rally is in memory of Jack and Joan.  We will have awesome T-Shirts for sale, the same design and color Joan Arnold had for the Ohio Rally years ago.

I can make this event.  However, I'll be in the car instead of on the bike.  The situation is that I need to go to Athens (also in Ohio) on September 5 to pick up some parts for a motorcycle that I recently bought.  The parts are larger than I can carry on the Stelvio, so, I must drive the car.

Right now that would be the plan.  Looking forward to it.

Yes, you did, in 2012:

You also rode the Ballabio a few years before, when the rally was at the band camp...in 2006:

I think Wayne is amazed you made it in that rain, and Terry is impressed.

"Thanks for the memories," Joe!

Lordy, that WAS a wet ride.  I basically followed some hurricane-become-tropical depression from Atlanta to the rally.  Poured on me the whole way.  That Triumph rain suit "worked," but what a PITA to do anything off the Ballabio, e.g., the first letter in PITA.

On way back, stayed with daughter at at cabin in Davis, W.V.  She had hit a deer the day before in her Toyota SUV.  Not much damage besides a dead deer and a hood that would not operate.

In an effort to "help," I launched my not-insignificant corpus up while standing on the bumper, so, on coming down I might "uncrumple" some of it so it would close.

That worked.  On the SUV.

As for me, however, it led to broken ribs and a very painful ride home.

On the Griso this time; looking forward to a drier ride to and from, but, if not, c'est la vie.

There will be some that are there on Thursday, FWIW. I agree that 12 hours is a long day. So you could leave on Wednesday, break up the ride into two days, arrive earlier Thursday, rather than later. You would also have two days to get home since Monday is a holiday if you choose.

Or Not.

I enjoyed my first time at the Rally last year, and fully plan on returning for this year's edition - though this time I plan on using my door prize from last year instead of staying in the dorm.  The other change for me from last year to this year will be making more of an effort to get there on Friday before dinner disappears.

Did we have a Tent or Sleeping Bag on the door prize table last year?

The food USUALLY lasts until about 8pm on friday night.

I'm ready.  This rally is special because I can ride up with minimal gear, sleep in a dry bed with no tent, have a hot shower, eat good food, and even go for a swim in the pool.  The plan is to ride my V7 this year.  If the weather gods do not cooperate I'll be forced to take the Stelvio due to the greater weather protection afforded by the Big Girl.  At any rate, Ohio here I come!

Can't decide to tent it or not, do you need to book reservations for the dorm rooms?

No plenty of room , Many have put up their tent on friday and took down Sat if the weather looked iffy so they do not have to pack a wet tent to go home with, and moved up to the dorms that nite.

Hoping for Cleveland Moto to bring bikes for demo rides too.
