When you're out riding your Guzzi and park it, what's the first comment or question that people ask you about your Moto Guzzi? For me it's been ...(from other riders) "Haven't seen one of those in a long time", or "Where do the sell /service those around here?". (From non-riders) "Who makes that?"

Any other interesting comments you've gotten?

The most recent comment to me was, "Had one of those 30 years ago." (so did I.)

Most frequently heard first comments:

"Nice BMW" (my bike is a Norge)
"Just what is that?"
"Are they still in business?"
"I thought they just made cruisers"
"Where do they make those?" (often while in plain view of the flags on the tank and trunk)

That pretty well covers it for me.

When I reply "120 miles to the nearest dealer. I do most service myself", their eyes glaze over and they wander aimlessly away...

Or just to play with them a bit...you could say, the Italian mechanic from Lake Como flies in once a year on the Guzzi private jet to tune it up...it's a one of a kind motorcycle requiring very special attention!

When I picked up my 2012 NTX I stopped for lunch in Lone Pine, CA. After lunch I was sitting on a bench talking to my brother-in-law telling him about the bike when a father and son drove up in a pick-up and parked next to the Stelvio. They got out, walked over to the bike and the father said to the son "that's a bad ass bike".

Because my Guzzis are "old", it's usually: "What year is that?" Monday when I was out riding a customer's 850 GT, I stopped for gas and a police officer wandered over and said: "Cool bike, mind if I check it out?". He now wants an old Guzzi...

I have a 2013 V7 Stone. Several times people have asked me "what year was that bike made?" And they seem surprised when I say "2013" as opposed to "it's a 1973 model I restored a few years ago."

Well, since I don't currently own a motorcycle, when I pull up going "vroom, vroom, putt putt" mostly they don't ask me anything at all. They all just move away from me whilst wearing odd expressions that I think are similar to fear.

This afternoon, on my way home from work on my Norge, while stopped at a light, a fellow drove past me in the next lane, stopped, backed up next to me, and said through his open window:

"That's a beautiful bike! What is it?"

"A Moto Guzzi."

"A Moto Guzzi? Do you commute on it?"

"Yes."

"That's a beautiful bike!"

"Thanks!"

Calvin - "How old is that?" Implying that a bike as old as it mus tbe looks pretty damn nice.

Sport - "Is that some sort of Ducati?" Noting that even a casual observer is likely to identify Italian flair.

Breva - "Honda?" Nodding to the CX series.

Each of the above, in one form or another has been heard multiple times.

I was in a hardware store a couple of day s ago zeroing in on something I was looking for when an agent stocking his product looked at me sweltering in my armoured jacket and said, "pretty hot today in the jacket huh" and as I nodded in agreement he looked at the Moto Guzzi emblem on it and said, "at least you ride a decent bike!"

had a bit of a yak. Seems like he regularly goes to the isolated place I was born and bred in on his BMW Adventure bike and stays right next door to my mate (and former boss) up there.

Around here the motorheads are pretty sophisticated. When they notice the bike at all I usually get a thumbs-up and a grin.

I'm not sure people in my area care as I do not get confronted about the brand more than maybe 1 or so every 2 years. Suites me as I rather not spend my time talking about brands with someone at a gas station when I could be riding.

If on the Norge It is either ignored of I get a comment about it being a nice looking BMW. If I am on the T-3 it seems like every time I stop someone approaches. Usually the comment is "I had a one years ago, or father had one, or Uncle had one, etc. Probably second most common comment is "I have not seen one of those in years.

I am usually surprised when anyone makes a comment. Lots of Harley guys are fascinated with my Vintage, but few know anything about them. Their comments are usually a variation of, "Nice bike...Motor Guh-zee?" However, it's always a bit of a shock when old fellows wander up at a gas station and tell me about their old Ambassador or Eldorado. Those are the really cool meetings...those old guys always have a wistful look in their eyes.

Comments about my Norge:

1. From many old timers: Moto Guzzi, "I had one of those ___ years ago; didn't know they still made them...."

2. "Who would buy a piece of Jap-crap like that..." From a young lady who climbed off the back of cruiser made by a well known American manufacturer.

3. "Norge!? Didn't they make refrigerators?" From an older HD rider.
