Why is this old geezer smiling???
« on: May 24, 2017, 05:28:34 PM »
Now you can see why! I've been combing the country for a long time trying to find a clean, low miles, preferably one owner, Le Mans 1000 and I finally hit the jackpot. I got it from a Gent in Colorado and it just arrived last week. It is completely stock with 13,000 miles and has been very well cared for. I've put a couple hundred miles on it so far and it takes me back to what made me a Guzzi enthusiast 35 years ago. Some lighter return springs in the carbs and a Dyna III and that's it. I'm not sure why the red parts look pink in the pic's cuz they're really a nice red. So.....the old blacksmith gets a new hammer

Good on you.

What a great bike. They don't come much better than the mighty MKV.

Congrats. Go and ride the wheels off the thing.

Thanks guys. Yes, Turin, it's a '91, one of only 17 with this color scheme imported in the US. I made a pass at Rockers when he was trying to decide how to thin his herd a few years back and have been on the prowl ever since. Leroy and I almost had a deal for his LM IV a few months back but he wisely decided to keep it. I'm really glad I was pointed toward this one, she's a keeper for sure.

it's a '91, one of only 17 with this color scheme imported in the US.

A friend of mine had one, a very nice bike.  I found it to be more stable than the earlier Le Mans 1000s that were essentially identical otherwise except for having a handlebar mounted fairing, headlight, instruments etc. that all turned with the bars.   I've found frame mounted fairings to have the same effect on other models of bike too (for instance '90 versus '92 BMW R100GS) and for me this would be a reason to prize the '91 Le Mans!  Enjoy it.
