What a simple honest looking machine. Iconic ..not so tarted up you wouldn't put it thru some mud or rain.

Looks like a well kept survivor. The T100 in the background looks decent, too. I'm glad I got the Limey bike bug outta my system twenty years ago. Gotta like a guy who keeps his bikes in his house...

Hard to say no when SWMBO buys the mat to go under it.

Many years ago I fell deeply in like for a great looking Norton. It kept calling me from some- one's front lawn. I looked closely. I told my son about it. "Dad. Together we haven't enough time to keep that thing on the road. . . where would you ride it?" A loaf of bread means a 4 state tour, btw.
I bought the image many years later. A GB500TT. The 'boy' skimmed a jet orifice giving it perfect carburation. Fun bike. Reliable as a stone.  R3~

How do you like the brakes on the GB500?  I've always wanted one.  A local friend that also like singles had one for a while.  He said there wasn't much for brakes, especially the rear drum(?) that was the same brake as used on the Honda Ascot single.

Front and rear brakes work very well; especially if you are mindful of the period when built.
It has less than 7K miles and looks to be recently out of the box. I've had it 4.5 yrs.
Stock GB500TT's carry an iron rotor. Every time it collects rust it gets buffed off by the brake pads. There may be a replacement of non-corroding metal. Or go cheap: boil the pads in a pot of water w/1/2 box of sodium bicarbonate. Skim the crud from the waters' surface. pull the pads - they'll dry instantly - sand lightly w/320 grit - re-fit.  You're good to go.  R3~
BTW: that boiling process works well clearing oil, grease and/or brake fluid. Use an old pot!

Hard to deny the charm of an air cooled four stroke single.  If you get the right one, it's kinda like M&M's, old school charm, light weight, and handling with inherent reliability.

Probably will bite the bullet some day, but every time I get the old bike lust, I take my 1999 Suzuki DR 650 out for a spin.  Then I ponder.... someday maybe, a different gas tank, side cover, fenders, and muffler.... and I could make this thing look like whatever I wanted.  Same bike from 1996 to present, and usually bought and owned by older riders, so parts and used bikes will probably be available forever.

As a point of reference concerning the GB500, one time I had the occasion to ride all through the north Georgia mountains with a gentleman my size (240ish). Him on his GB and me on the 1970 Ambassador I used to have.
The performance parallels were uncanny.
It was a good day.

My friend Joe and his wife Carol have a pair of GB500s (for sale, if he hasn't already sold them). They rode down to a FSSNOC "Thumper Cafe" and a VJMC meet in Alabama last year on them. I made brackets for them to mount Apache cases from Harbor Freight. Worked out very well.
