Another irrational thread destined to go on ad on...

One of my favored pie destinations back when I lived that way was the Julian Pie Company in Julian California. Made a great loop for pie and Palomar mountain. Nope, never measured the radius of the trip. Got pied there many a time but that was back when I was a horse of different colors - at least two.

Well, that's kinda funny.  Was just there a few hours ago.  Great day for a ride, right after a storm so clear blue skies.

Yes!! There is Pie Town in New Mexico and also the historic Rock Springs Cafe on I-17 north, just outside of Phoenix.  I have sampled a wonderful slice of pie at both places!!! :thumb:

I once rode an hour to Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe in Melton Mowbray to get a Melton Mowbray  pork pie.

Imagine my disappointment to discover that they were exactly the same as I could buy in my local supermarket ☹☹

More research needed 👍👍

Tris

PS apologies if this is the wrong sort of pie story

History-Pi-Petr-Beckmann..the book.

Ah, indeed Pi day but...

We also should have a day for the number "0"  as it is, in my mind, just as important if not more.

You live in CV now?

:-)

Aho . maybe we should start a day to recognize 0 .

No , not in CV , although it still remains a possibilty in the future .

Pie no more. Pictured Pie was from the now closed Durham, KS "Main St. Cafe". Miss it. Outside of the local grain elevator and a one man auto repair place the cafe was the only other business in this very rural little town. The long time owner was at retirement age and then a couple of years ago the cafe and town for that matter was severely flooded so he decided not to reopen. They use to do a Friday night German buffet that was to die for. People came from all over the state. Open time usually had a 50 person deep line waiting outside.

Last pie run for me was in 1978. late fall 1;30 am, The  pie was hotter than a rocket.  Riding my first ever new street bike , a Yamaha 550 maxim. Didn't end well. The old man let the dogs out while I was trying hard to receive said pie.  Jumped off an eight foot high porch and two big shepherds had my lunch while I ran like a school boy down the road to where I had secretly parked my bike. A funny memory now but not so funny then.  A mans gots to be careful when it comes to seeking 3.14

I ended up with a $300 car and my motorcyle. Best deal I ever made..  ;D Sold the car, and when I met Dorcia I only had a motorcycle.

I gave up the house but kept 12 motorcycles.  Worth it.

Twice a year for several years now I have ridden to Cedar Vale and some of the pies that the ladies there bake.

The only trouble is deciding on which I should choose.

Well worth the trip.
