« on: February 23, 2021, 06:10:55 AM »

Don't know when new videos will start since she likes to have a buffer.

The dealership is in Johannesburg.

I'm guessing the  500 is in the Netherlands and she bought  this for Africa.

Isn't that bike a bit tall for someone with short legs?  This will be interesting...

If you have been following her, she has had a lot of off road training, and is realizing that lighter is better.  She is one intelligent Lady.

Yep, one cannot log as many miles as that lady has and not be EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE on the subject of riding a motorcycle 👍

Oh interesting. She left a cryptic note a while back about applying for a visa.  Fair play to her.  At this rate she'll have a bike in every continent!!

I saw a pic of her starting season 5 in Sikkim on an Himilayan.  I would enjoy both adventures.  Time will tell, I check everyday for new videos.

I think her naivety in the first season led her to do things on that bike alone that she probably wouldn't do today.   Those frozen mountain passes were pretty insane!

The Honda 500 was the right tool for Northern Europe, but the Himalayan would have been better for really exploring Iceland.

She is gravitating to "The right tool for the situation." and small displacement, lighter bikes, and off-road suspensions is the right bike for what she really wants to do while exploring Africa.

Her videography skills and story telling is really improving.  You can tell that she takes the behind the scenes work very seriously but still holds on to that wonderment and exuberance that comes through in her videos.

If it weren't for - she would have probably been well on her way to over a million subscribers.

Well, this bike lasted 8 months with her. Wonder what bike #3 will be. Probably a very "Rally" worthy mount of some sort obviously.

I haven't watched it all yet but she gave the Kalahari Rally her best shot.

Itchy Boots rides the Kalahari Rally, watch this and make up your mind if she can ride or not?

I'm hoping she's smart enough not to buy a bigger bike and then continue her rides to places in BFE alone. Bigger bike is fine for "gentleman's rallies" where there are people waiting in line to help her.  But that little Honda was the perfect companion for her usual solo off road adventures. KTM?  She better hire a chase team, lol.

Even when she was picking out the Honda, she was admiring the KTMs.  There is definitely a struggle going on between light and reliable, with light and fast!  The KTMs definitely have a nice power to weight ratio though if she stays with a dual sport.

Yep, the Himalayan handled a lot more weight and just kept on rolling.  A quick search didn't turn up an OEM accessory rack for the little Honda.  I guess 60 mph on crazy terrain with the fuel tank and tools back there was just too much.

Pretty cool that the bike will be housed in a motorcycle museum in South Africa.

Of course many of us have fallen into that trap, falling for sexy powerful bikes that require more maintenance and repairs than the typical UJM.

I don't think so, She always seems to be frugal, from what i have seen, thus why KTM when a rice burner will get you the same or more for less ?
I kinda stopped watching her stuff after her second ride in Africa, and I have no Idea where she will go next.. but I bet it wont be on a KTM.
Nothing much better than a Tannat from the Salta region.

I dunno if a KTM would be more adventurous than anything she has done already. The 300 Rally seems to be a great choice as long as there are luggage systems available.

When she posted her choices I immediately eliminated the KLR650, KTM, and BMW.  I was hoping she would have at least tried the Yamaha, but I figured she would settle on the Honda. I've been considering the 300 Rally as a replacement for the Himalayan but none available at any of the dealers I would consider purchasing from, and no test rides.

I'm sure the Honda is the better tool most of the time, but I'd rather be plonking around on that Himalayan of yours. Just seems a more interesting ride :azn:

Happens with most youtube adventure people. The better they get at it, the fewer entertaining skin of the teeth events we get to see.

yep, some people only watch the races for the crashes, or hockey for the fights.

Her drone footage combined with music choice have made her videos rival many high budget travel video productions.
