Title: Sport 1100 Master Cylinder perch
Post by: Aaron D. on August 09, 2015, 10:48:27 AM
Good morning,

I just noticed my mc perch is cracked halfway through. Not sure how long it's been this way, I was preparing to do a fluid change when I noticed.

No luck searching on MG, I can call Harpers tomorrow, but is this a common bit or is it something special?

I could make one but I would prefer to have an OEM style bit there.

Thanks!

The Brembo master cylinders are common between Ducati, Aprilia, and Guzzi.

I'd take a look at Ebay for a Ducati take-off.

Look at the backside of yours to confirm the piston size, and that it matches whatever replacement you buy.

Mine broke, I made a new one out of steel.  Not difficult and looks OK.

You made a whole perch, or you made the clamp?

oops my mistake I thought he was talking about the aluminum doohicky that holds the brake reservoir.

It is the aluminum doo-hickey, darned thing cracked at one of the "lightening" holes.

It would be pretty easy to make a new one, just thought I'd buy my way out of this.

So the part is called a "tank support", and is an $8 part at Harpers. Go figure.

I guess I'll make sure my bleeders aren't terminally seized before I order it,  because calipers aren't too pricey either.

If you are going to replace them 999 ducati calipers offer a significant upgrade.

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind if needed-still hoping to find the little bracket first though,
