MotoGuzzi hack?
« on: May 16, 2021, 07:30:32 PM »
I just dragged this 2000(1939) Ural home. Im a big fan of sidecars and the price was right. If/when it blows up, I think I'll find a nice V50 and attach the chair to it. All that got me thinking......why let Ural run away with the hack market. They should bring one to market. The new smallish and vastly better bikes would make great rigs.

Wouldn't a Ural sidecar be a little heavy for a smallblock?

Hacks are a ton of fun but after owning one I can see why the market is so micro.

If you look at the specs of a Ural versus a small block, they’re similar enough in power. I spoke to the folks at DRC, and they said they’ve installed a few rigs on V7s.

Urals don’t have a ton of power. They do have loads of torque and more grunt and clunk than the modern Guzzis.

I have always admired Guzzi's with sidecars...Here are a few beauties from the files...

When I lived / worked in Aachen, Germany (2004-2005), I saw a lot of sidecars on the road...They are much more popular in Europe than in the USA...  :boozing: :thumb:

I would say so.  A small light chair like a Velorex 562 would be appropriate for a smallblock.

Yeah, I think so. Mine is on a Convert, and it is just okay. The ooomph a Convert puts out is not much more than a small block. I had a Velorex on a Convert many years ago and it was much better inn terms of power.
