Title: *UPDATE** Michigan Moto Guzzi WeekendJuly 22-23, 2016
Post by: WP2 on May 20, 2016, 11:11:17 AM
Fox PowerSports and Moto Guzzi National Owners Club

Grand Rapids Michigan

This event will gather riders and fans of Moto Guzzi, one of the worlds pioneering bike manufacturers. Featured will be the full Moto Guzzi new model line-up, DEMO RIDES, maintenance and service tips from Guzzi gear heads, food, fun and other activities during the height of summertime in beautiful West Michigan. Let this event be a destination point for you, or a starting point for your own Guzzi ride.

Tour the gorgeous Lake Michigan shoreline just 40 miles to the west. Consider a pub crawl in Grand Rapids itselfrecently named by USA Today as the number one Beer City in the country. Or explore up and down the scenic West Michigan coast. A tank full of gas will take you to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, stunning Traverse City or the popular shoreline towns of Saugatuck and South Haven. Ride the famed 21 mile Tunnel of Trees north of Petoskey, or cross the Mackinac Bridge to explore Michigans amazing Upper Peninsula. Both local and extended ride routes will be provided, with local riders on hand to help you plan your routes.

The brand new Fox PowerSports mega-facility located at U.S. 131 and 44th Street will be the gathering venue. Check in at the Guzzi Central pavilion area when you arrive and then get ready enjoy a sea of motorcycle eye candy at this bike shop extraordinaire.

Maybe they moved Grand Rapids and made it an island.

You're right...I just took a ride and, yup, the Lake is WEST of Grand Rapids.

I've corrected it - thanks for the heads up.

I used to live in Marshall and know the area well - there is absolutely no reason to get onto I-94, I-69 or US-131. No reason to touch a miserable highway and the location of the event is on the south side of GR before you get to the war torn streets.

PM me and I can give you various 2 lane routes...better yet I'll be down your way next weekend to visit the Ft. Custer National Cemetery and then Dark Horse in Marshall - buy you a beer  :boozing:

To bad I'm up in Ironwood and won't be back in TC until Tuesday. A day late and a dollar short as usual!

This would have been a great event to parallel Muskegon Bike Time (July 14-17). The Bike Time isn't at all the typical Guzzi rally, but there are lots of bikes and things to see on your way up the lakeshore. I'd like to see more Guzzi there than two or three like normal.

I'll be around the dealership 7/22-23 regardless. Good timing with the Michigan rally ending last year.

**UPDATE**
This event has been cancelled!
Met with Fox Powersports today and we've agreed to cancel the event. Since the primary intent of the event was to provide demo rides across the whole line of Guzzis and we won't be able to meet that goal, we've cancelled rather than disappoint.
Fox has been selling in robust numbers (for Guzzi) and their inventory is on the low side at this point - 24 more are to be arriving soon, but won't be here in time for our event - gotta cancel rather than have a minimum offering. The Fox team prides themselves on doing things right and we agree - better to reschedule for the beginning of next year than to a "half fast" event.
To those that were planning on coming, we apologize for the late notice on the cancellation. PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks for understanding.

Walt
