73 Eldo Tank Vent
« on: October 07, 2019, 12:32:45 PM »
I have a friend with a 73 Eldorado he has had since new, It was parked for a few years and he has just got it back on the road.
He told me the tank is not venting so it's cutting out after a few miles due to tank suck.
Can someone tell me what sort of vent the tank uses, hey says it's not obvious.
It's a threaded cap.

Thanks
Roy

"Threaded cap"? Guessing you mean the twist-on cap like "police" loops used. Whatever the cap type, the tank vents through it. Use spray carburetor cleaner such as Berkebile 2+2 to flush out the cap and open the vent.

Thanks Charlie, I conveyed the information on.
I guess the vent is hidden somehow.
I also gave him a couple of replacement parts from Greg's site.

I had similar trouble with my V7 700 and its fuel cap. Bit of a long story but I ended up drilling a small hole in it. See here https://racingrhino.wordpress.com/2017/05/07/fuel-starvation-4-may-2017/

If it is the twist on cap like you would have on an old car/truck and you can't get yours to work. Stant 10623 Fuel Cap.
