Or just 310 lbs. if you're willing to give up several (to most of us) essential parts...

I had a test ride on a Street a couple of years ago. It was without doubt the worst bike I've ever ridden.  Bland and uncomfortable, a bike without character. I can imagine it appealing only to those who think that bikes must wear the Harley badge if they're to be any good, and that nothing that wears that badge can be uninspired or uninspiring.
I've yet to see one on the British roads (apart from while I was riding the demonstrator), and that's despite it being a lot cheaper than most bikes of that size.

RR merlin and Allison V12s in fact almost all? aircraft V12s are blade and fork. No shaking order.

Compared to what?  Not other liquid-cooled overhead-cam 750cc V-twins.

Those are about the same numbers as a 1990s vintage Ducati M750 Monster.  And the Monsters are over 100 lbs lighter...

The older, air-cooled Monster 796 is 87HP.
The water-cooled 821 is 112 HP.

It looks like a bit of a hipster bike. Is HD is trying to attract a new market? My opinion: it won't be attractive to older traditional buyers, well off younger buyers will still have BMW and Ducati at the top of their shortlist, and the less affluent will opt for Japanese bikes. It's going to be a tough sell.
:1: It's not for me.
I thought they would have their electric bikes out by now.

 Why so heavy? The wet weight of my Buell Uly is 510lb's with that big old lump of a motor. And never mind more it also makes more HP. Having said that I think it is a good looking bike, hopefully they will actually try and sell this not like most dealers did with Buell.

They already did, it was called a V-Rod.  Unfortunately not enough people bought one.

Well, good for Harley.  SOMETHING needed to be done to the 750 bike-it was awful as it was.
The two local dealerships I've visited have, so far, treated that bike like they treated Buell and still treat Sportsters. A shame as the Sporty is a fine machine and a lot of fun in my book.

It'll be interesting to see if these revised bikes sell well, or at all.

While it's nice that H-D is trying to branch out, it's somehow still like two decades behind.  My sv650 made 10 more hp and weighed 80 pounds less.  I get that it's aimed at the crowd who will eschew raw power for looks (I include myself in that category) but the bike seems like it's 30-50 pounds overweight.

I would think the moto media would have made some mention of the 2016 roadster.  Now that looked like a cool bike.  Still the only Harley I would own.

It looks nice, but as others have already said, it's too heavy with a too-small tank, and I'd rather have one of these:

A friend of mine had a Street Rod V-Rod and let me ride it for awhile.  I liked the longer suspension allowing better cornering and I think the front end wasn't a raked out as much as the other V-rods.  Moving from feet forward controls to mid-controls made for a much better riding position, but in so doing my boots hit the muffler and other bits, results of an afterthought.  I liked the engine.  I kept waiting for H-D to build a sport-touring frame using that engine. Never did happen and now it's production run is over.

Too many posts to bother replying to all but I'll cherry pick one that says it:

Like a V7, or a Scrambler, or a Bonnie Street Twin... or....

Funny someone on another board was complaining it didn't LOOK as good as a Street Twin, but that's kinda funny since it offers a number of things the Street Twin doesn't:

* Dual Discs
* USD forks
* Piggyback reservoir gas charged shocks
* More HP (predicted to be about 65 rwhp vs. 53 dyno on Triumph Street Twin)
* Belt final drive

Not bad.

I hope they do well and expand their offerings.

See, now that's cool!  Nothing left of the original HD Street, besides engine and wheels, though.

Why couldn't they bring a DOT/EPA version of THAT to the showrooms ?!?!?!?!

Do you suppose history might repeat itself?  Just as H-D came out with the flattrack inspired XR-1000 (which was poorly received, but now desired), perhaps they'll come out with an XG1000R (which will likely also be poorly received, but later desired).

that bike needs more black plastic covers and guards!   :evil:

it isn't a bad looking bike (at least from the left side) but that front sprocket (pulley) cover and belt guards are huge. Lose the exhaust (which I guess many will) and do something with the fake air cleaner. Anyone know if they have a single throttle body like other Hogs or a more normal airbox and twin throttle bodies?

last - what is up with the color choices? black, dark grey or gold?? and how about adding some chrome or aluminum to brighten it up? It is a Harley after all.

Interestingly enough the website is saying "Mikuni Twin Port Fuel Injection, 42 mm bore" for the Street Rod and "Mikuni Single Port Fuel Injection, 38 mm bore" for the base Street 750. So that might suggest that the base model was a single 38mm throttle body and this one is using either a larger throttle body (42mm bore) or dual throttle bodies, which would be surprising. I'm curious to see that explained.

As for colors, yeah that's all now, but it's Harley and color choices should change yearlyish.

Well I gotta say I like it.  Liquid cooling and a belt drive are not my cup of tea, and the high compression motor with a 91 octane gas recommendation might be a PITA sometimes, but by golly it looks like a proper motorcycle.  It's the first Harley I would ever consider in my life.  Naked standard with a livable seat height.  And that exhaust sound...would like to hear it in person!

Doesn't that just mean they've gone from a 38mm to a 42mm throttle body, and from a single injector to dual injectors?
