1948 GTV
« on: February 04, 2023, 09:53:11 PM »
I have a 1948 GTV which needs some engine parts such as valve guides, clutch parts and more.  Which supplier In Italy or the USA have you used that would you  would recommend or encourage me to stay away from?
Do any of you have a solo seat that would fit my old girl?

Welcome to WG!  I have used Guzziretro.com for parts and have been happy with the result.  It was slow, but sure service.   I noticed their website is not coming up, but they are available through FB.

If you haven't joined the Google group - Guzzi Singles, it is almost a necessity to become a member there if you have an old single.  All the "brains" for these bikes hang out there.  There are supplier discussions going on regularly.   https://groups.google.com/g/guzzi-singles

agree with Dave’s endorsement!

Marco at Guzzi Retro is great, he supplied me with a ton of parts for my 48 Airone and many engine parts for a 1948 GTV motor as well, including a new cylinder, piston, rings, guides, valves etc….,
I visited him at his shop just north of Mandello this summer, only about 20% of his stock is at his store but even that 20% will blow your mind.

+1 on GuzziRetro.  They are in Abbadia Lariana, just south of Mandello del Lario.  Email communication in English is fine.  I did a Falcone clutch pack in August.

back when i had my GTV, I used Alfa ricambi (sp?) located in Torrance CA.
Nothing much better than a Tannat from the Salta region.

wow Dave, what a pretty restoration.

The '35 GTS was imported from Germany for the express purpose to be sold at the 2016 Mecum Las Vegas auction.  The buyer at that time was in California, and I purchased it from him 2 years ago.

The restoration is quite old, but still looks presentable.  There is actually a fair amount of originality left in amongst the restoration.  Most important, it runs and goes down the road perfectly.  Purchasing the bike long distance required a leap of faith, but the demeanor of the seller put me at ease.
