Title: UPDATE - Photo Request of Joe Eish's Grave
Post by: Dave Swanson on March 22, 2023, 12:27:50 PM
UPDATE.  Our ever hard working moderator Ncdan was able to make some contacts with the cemetery.  The end result is that Joe Eish is not buried in Woodland Cemetery in which his son is buried.   We can only theorize what happened to Joe's remains.

Thanks to all that took and interest in this venture.

I was contacted by an old friend of Joe Eish, Bob Sweeny.  Bob has a long history of friendship with Joe and his wife Ida Mae.  He was not able to attend Joe's funeral and would appreciate it very much if he could have a picture of Joe's grave.  Find A Grave does not have a photo, but it does have a photo of Joe's son's grave Donald Joeseph Eish.  It is assumed that Joe is buried close by his son in Woodland Cemetery, Salineville, OH.

Bob has made numerous attempts to get a photo through the cemetery and Joe's relatives to no avail.  If anyone has a photo, or is local to Salineville, Ohio and can stop in and take a photo it would be much appreciated.  You may send the picture to my email  w9eu@hotmail.com

Here is the photo of Don Eish's grave.  Gone too soon.

I am not anywhere near enough to help w the request, but I remember Joe with fondness.
I'd order parts, and he would send them, unpaid, with a bill enclosed.  I'd send a check afterward.
Real honest, old-school type of doing business.

I will attempt to make contact with someone at the cemetery next week.
I can dust off some of my bygone LEO investigative techniques and attempt to get the requested information.
It may accomplish more by attempting to contact the cemetery groundskeeper other that the management of the cemetery business.
I’ll get back Dave, if I can accomplish any results.

In the spirit of the campfire aspect of this forum. I have to ask being completely ignorant admittedly, who knows was Joe Eish? No disrespect intended at all. Sincerely I’m curious.

Joe Eish operated Eish Enterprises.  Back then, when it was still about talking on the phone, he helped clueless people like me resolve their Italian Motorcycle needs. Nice guy and patient enough, not like chasing Joe at Cosmo or some other folks.  I certainly cannot claim him as a personal friend or even acquaintance but he always he a little time for me when I was in a bad spot working on my V7 Sport or some Ducati single.  I tried not to waste his time but it was nice to know a real expert was there if I really needed it.

I would love to see a pic of his stone, too- just because that’s what I do and I like seeing stones.

I had the same experience as Clifffrod had when dealing with Joe. When I ordered stuff from Joe , he didn't want payment then, he said, " I'll put a bill in the shipment, you can pay me after you receive it." The last time I called, Idae Mae answered and told me Joe had just passed away. Horst.

Joe tried to stock any parts that would stop a rider. You could count on him to get you going if you broke down. Exemplary behavior, I sure miss him and I never met him in person, just over the phone.

This is the assumption made initially, but is contrary to what Dan found.

Family and friends attended a private viewing Jan. 2 in Kerr-Pastore Funeral Home in Salineville. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery.
Mr Joe died in 2005.
I spoke personally with the pastor of the church where the cemetery is located on 3 separate occasions.
The pastor contacted me 3 days after I requested his help to bring closure for Mr Bob.
Authority of the pastor, there are no recording of Joseph Eish being buried at that cemetery, where the son is buried, nor is there a gravestone or foot stone.
At my suggestion the cemetery caretaker was summoned to check the small cemetery for any form of marker ID.
The only feasible deduction is that Mr Joe was cremated and his ashes spread on his sons grave, possibly???

Mr Bob has sent letters to the widow as well as son with no response.
The only other lead available is there is a catholic cemetery in the area and the Pastor is going to request the pastor there to check the grave records to see if Joe may be resting there by chance and that is doubtful. As I ended investigation reports back in the day, “this case is closed,  pending any further information or investigative leads in the future”
