Ride Report - a Lincolnshire loop
« on: March 26, 2017, 01:31:26 PM »
I took my Breva 1100 out for the 1st ride of the season after a winter of fettling on a cold but sunny day!!

Any Lincoln ites on here will know of Willingham Woods for a cuppa tea. Can anyone spot the B11 in the press of lesser machines

Left Willo Woods and went down to wonderful fast and curvy Caister High Street before dodging across to Bardney via the infamous "Bardney Bends" .

I thought I was a bit lost before I spotted Lincoln Cathedral on the horizon and headed that way

Looped in to Lincoln and took these pictures of the newest memorial in Lincoln

Left the memorial and bimbled home , chin bar up on my Caberg Duke lid, via Saxilby and the back roads

The shake down ride went well and the new Hellibars appear to have sorted things out a treat

I REALLY like my B11 - its a joy to ride and I think its taken top spot over my old VFR 750

It looks like a nice run between Kexby and Saxilby (good old Norse placenames). Classic English lowland riding  :thumb:

Tris,
Over on the GrisoGhetto there's a Griso owner with the avatar name Sidrat that says he lives about 10 miles from Brant Boughton on the Sleaford side of Lincoln.
As Guzzi owners are few & far between I was wondering if you know him ?

Very nice report and pix.

Really like the WWI tank sculpture.

My father was a tanker before me ... from 1936 -- 7th Cavalry Brigade (Mechanized) -- and wore insignia emulating that model.

Good pictures, and it looks like a good time was had.

If you pick the right venue, there's an amazing number of bikes that pull up on English weekends.   Eastbourne in the south, and Matlock Wells come to mind.

Glad we're all starting to "get out" more!

The 15 mile leg between Saxilby, Kexby and home is deceptive. It looks good on the map, but in reality its a "B" road linking a number of small villages/hamlets all with their own 30MPH limit and 90 degree corners.
So not a flowing ride but really nice to chill down on with little traffic

Sorry I don't know the man. Lincolnshire is the 2nd biggest county in the UK its easy to live in the same county but not know them.

Wednesday is "bikenight"  at Willingham Woods and you can nigh on double the number of bikes than in these pictures

The A631 from Gainsborough(where I live) across to Market Rasen (WW is just past Market Rasen) is a great riding road, but  is classed as "one of the most dangerous road in the UK"

This is because all the power rangers come across the Trent at Gainsborough on their way to WW, ride beyond their competency and end up punching holes in the hedges with the corresponding results

Tris - I followed it on Google Streetview. It's the kind of UK riding I like, including all the villages and hamlets. It looks like Norfolk (where I grew up and return often), but without the hills

Thanks again

Nick
