Did you ride your bike today?
« on: February 11, 2017, 02:40:04 PM »
:bike-037: Me and a freind rode to Brentwood Ar. in search of a Moto Guzzi. but it was gone,  :cry:sold to a Dentist that will take good care of it. The Ozarks are alive with motorcycles today. It was a great day to ride in the mid 80s. old cb750 hates lugging...my old seat is too hard for long trips! sore butt syndrome!

Yes!  Yesterday it hit 80F in Colorado.  The first time in history the temp has been above 71 (the old record for the MONTH) around here in February.  Today it is a bit cooler which is almost welcome.  The crocuses are blooming and spring is in the air!

OK, sorry fellow CO riders.  The jinx is on....

yeah, 2 of my friends and I rode about a hour to New Orleans, around the north shore, back to French Quarter,  Stopped by Camillas for some breakfast and rode the river road back to Baton Rouge.

Not a fan of New Orleans, never have been.  Crowded, roads are really bad.  cracked asphalt, holes, and uneven, and generally in poor shape in the residential areas and in the French Quarter especially.  But, a lot of people do love the area, I just don't get it, but that's why I choose not to live there.

At any rate, it was a good 160 miles round trip.  I got the bulk of the comments when we parked at the restaurant to go eat.  One drives a harley abcd glide of some kind.  Nice machine, pretty, makes nice sounds, but geez its big.

other guy rides that BMW cruiser bike from a few years back.  pull back bars, paralever front suspension, lots of chrome, boxer twin.

We ride at least once a month, usually on Saturday or Sunday after church.  the harley guy and I have made several all day rides, 300+ miles, over the years.  WE were talking its time to ride the mini Grand Canyon in Mississippi in a couple of weeks.

I ride my bike every day, except  if it's very cold or raining, so probably about 350 days/year.  20 miles a day on the Litespeed keeps me feeling young.

Yes, took an hour long ride. Was 65 degrees F in northern Kentucky today. The forecast for next weekend looks great, too. We have hardly had a winter yet this year.

Soon after the picture was taken it started raining and didn't quit for over a week , day before yesterday .
Today first sunny day in a long time , but we have lots of flooding .

Did a lunch ride with the family today. Went to have BBQ at Smokin' Joes in Davis, Ok. The restaurant was very busy and a lot of bikes out and about. We rode about 270 miles of non-direct route. Left at 11:00 and got back at 5:00. I was on my GS, oldest son on his Street Triple R, youngest son on his (mine actually) CBR600RR, and wife on her Breva 750 (Guzzi content). Temps in the 80s!  Great day to ride to eat.   :food:
The best part of riding a motorcycle is to tilt the horizon and to lift the front coming out of a corner and to drift the back end powering thru loose dirt and to catch a little air topping a hill and... yeah it's all good!

It was a very nice day near Seattle. Mid-40s and dry, so I fired up 4 out of 5 and took them each on a 15 mile exercise.
Sweet Leaf (1200Sport) was the most eager, but Baba Oreilly (1980 SP in LeMans drag) with 36mm DelOrtos and  Bubs made me smile the most.
Elizabeth Reed (73 Eldo) was mild tempered with no drama and Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy (85 Cal II with 200K on the clock) did what it does. Took me to the liquor store for a case of PER!
Life is good.

I'm basking, I tell, you, BASKING!.

The temperature in Sitka never got to 83 in the thirty years I lived there.  Highest recorded was 88 back in 1976.  Now that's some kind of hot.   :coffee:

OTOH, sub-zero temps have never been recorded there either.  If you were the weatherman and always said it is 41 and raining, you'd be pretty accurate.

First chore of the morning, fix the Garage Door.

Only took me 1/2 and hour, must be my prior experience on the other door.
Then clear the gutter for leaves for the third time this year, clean up the garage some.
A few of many chores done so I took the little V50 out for another test ride.  Corrected ignition is good, fueling is much better (must raise idle for stops), new front springs really help - (must deal with the far to heavy rear springs).  Now awaiting Colortune to verify and slightly adjust fueling.

Finally I took the V11 Lemans Rosso Corsa out for a little 40 mile run.  Lots of bikes out, Folsom-Salmon Falls Road - Pilot hill - Don Pedro Road - Highway 49 to Lotus and down Green Valley back to Folsom.  Lots of water here in California, rainfall around 200% normal, the south fork of the American reminded of the Dechutes near White Horse.

Old photo of Rosso @ Salmon Falls Bridge

I need to get the Lemans on a Dyno and have them correct the fueling during decel.  It's not bad just annoying.
