V85 seat height
« on: May 17, 2022, 08:50:59 PM »
My V85 is home again and I can put both feet on the ground at one time.  I believe Don said the rebuilt shock was 2” lower and the front looks about like 1.5”.  Now take it to the Mt. Curve’s and see how she doses.Rudy

Don didn’t think the side stand needed shorting, maybe not on a shop floor but in real life it needs about an in. I think.  Just couldn’t get to it today ( ranch In & rent house repair, almost 80 yr old man crawling around under rent house, sold two thins year can’t sell any more this year) got to ride to fort smith to get cruise control on the low rider. ( 250 miles around trip)  then my be fri. For kick stand.  Rain day.  Fix it then into hay field 100 acres.  Someone wants me to bale about 400 acres just don’t know how to price it with cost of fuel & repairs and make any money,  I’m thinking just walk on by.  Better to go to Guzzi ralley than lose a lot of money. I would rather have more side stand lean than less. Can easily put something under it if the bike leans too much, but sometimes hard to dig a hole in pavement if on a slope.

I usually carry something to put under my side stand if in soft ground.
The best part of riding a motorcycle is to tilt the horizon and to lift the front coming out of a corner and to drift the back end powering thru loose dirt and to catch a little air topping a hill and... yeah it's all good!

So you advocate shortening the side stand ?
I had to shorten both side and centrestands when I lowered my V85.

BTW..
I do this to get it on the centrestand.
